2 Year Deal, what would we have offered ?

Realistically I think a pay as you play type of contract, what else can we do with his track record. So if Chesterfield offered him a 2 year contract, mid season, he would be gone anyway. Onwards n upwards, in DC we trust

Chesterfield are currently sitting in sixth place in the National League and have a good chance of getting promoted after this signing. They have two critical home games coming up,against Boreham Wood tonight and Bromley on Saturday and if Manny is selected I'm sure he will be instrumental in them climbing the table.

I’d be surprised if this two year deal from chesterfield wouldn’t have been around in the summer. If they’re prepared to pay a small fee for him I think they would have held on and got him for free. I get that it’s good for manny but I still think he’s proven his worth under Clarke. 6 starts, 6 wins. The midfield has looked so much stronger with him in the side and he’s looked fit. I don’t think it would have been to harsh for us to ask him to complete the season with us and convince us of his fitness.

I do agree I trust what we’re doing it’s just a real shame to lose one of our best players. As others have posted let’s hope we have some decent arrivals in the summer

But if the medical department have concluded that he has a ticking timebomb of an injury that could go at any time... finishing 6 games doesn't solve that issue. It just proves the timebomb didn't go off in those 6 games.

I'm sure Manny has seen all the medical records and had all the discussions around the prognosis... with all that info he has leapt at the chance to sign a 2 year deal at a club not guaranteed to go up from none league level.

If the medical view was that he was over the injury and he doesnt have to worry about it and should be able to play as any other player... he would surely have been brave enough to hold out for a league club.

It seems clear to me that the Vale, Manny and Chesterfield know there is a big risk in signing Manny. That risk profile wasn't right for us... Chesterfield have decided to take the gamble. Might work. Might not. For Manny's sake I hope it does.

Put it another way... DC has decided not to gamble on red at the roulette table... he would rather a lower more guaranteed return to provide certainty... As economics will say.... people are more willing to gamble something if they have lots of them.... Squad spaces are restricted next year, we dont have many of them, so dont gamble.

Yeah makes sense. Just disappointing. Where will this leave someone like Monty?

Good luck to Manny - really nice lad and very good player on his day. Realistically he would have been very very lucky to have had a one year deal with us let alone 2 years from Chesterfield so fair play to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see  1 or 2 more movements from our squad players in to the national league if there are other teams prepared to dish out contracts like that.

Let’s hope Whitehead follows him next then!

I suspect Monty is very worried right now... I think he won’t be offered a deal.

All depends on what the medical view of him is I guess
