Rumour Manny off to Chesterfield ?

We should have held on, and seen if he could do the season. I am sure when we signed him from Aldershot he played 46 games that season for them. Did we miss manage him? And was his injury something that sometimes happens and he was on the way back, I know he broke down, but might have pushed him back too soon. I do know we will find it hard to replace him, best midfielder we had.

For perspective. His record for us is actually better than most of his career.

edit. For how minimal the fee is, I would have preferred us to stick by manny until the end of the season to prove his fitness. If he does keep him if not let him go

That wouldnt have been fair on Manny... he as been offered a 2 year deal which gives him and his wife security in what has been a very challenging year for him personally. If he had been injured in those 6 games it may have ended his chance of a career.

We have built a new football department that, finally, is looking at players injuries and medical requirements. An assessment has been made by that department which has lead to Manny leaving to go to a none league club... I for one will back them.

Clarke and Flitcroft must think they can do better. Or perhaps Oyeleke wanted to go for more security etc?

Or they think his injuries are too much of a risk... We cant carry players.

He may go one to play 40 games next year... in the same notion I could take my wages this month and place them all on Red at the casino and win.

Its a risk.. and one our new football department has decided it doesnt like the odds of.

I’ll be incredibly disappointed if this is true. He’s our best midfielder imo and definitely one of the better ones in the league.

I dont think you will find any Vale fan who will argue with that..Manny is as you say one of the best if not the best midfielder in league 2 when fully fit BUT can we carry a player who will do 15 games or less a season or do we try find a decent player who will play 40 games? For me its a good deal for Vale 10k for a player who came for free and is out of contract in a few months(someone at the club is good at deals, like with the Bennett one).

Maybe the club have investigated his injuries and dont think he will fully get over them, lastly i think we all know if he was fully fit Manny still wouldn't be here anyway,he would easily be in league one

There are two sides and a story to every transfer deal and if Manny can get a 2 year deal then good luck to him,no point having a DoF and not trusting his judgement.

He has been one of the first names on the team sheet for the last 6 games and we have won all 6 games. We are clearly a better team with him in it, he is arguably one of our best players. I think it was worth taking a risk on him personally.

Last season we finished 8th yet Manny only started 3 games and only finished the full 90 in one of those. I think the other lads can do a decent job without him, much as I’d like him to stay and remain fit.

That was last season though, our better players then have another year and by next season two years in their legs. We need at least 2 first team CM signings come the summer. I think we will keep Taylor and try to keep Conlon and then need another 2 at least

I’d be surprised if this two year deal from chesterfield wouldn’t have been around in the summer. If they’re prepared to pay a small fee for him I think they would have held on and got him for free. I get that it’s good for manny but I still think he’s proven his worth under Clarke. 6 starts, 6 wins. The midfield has looked so much stronger with him in the side and he’s looked fit. I don’t think it would have been to harsh for us to ask him to complete the season with us and convince us of his fitness.

I do agree I trust what we’re doing it’s just a real shame to lose one of our best players. As others have posted let’s hope we have some decent arrivals in the summer
