Match Thread: Carlisle United v Port Vale

A free week to prepare for the visit to Carlisle, game one of the Cumbrian tour including Barrow. Also a chance to view their Tuesday game at Newport. Will they have swapped PO places with the Exiles? I think DC would love to make it 7 wins on the trot, first since 1893 in the original Div 2, a few changes may be unavoidable but should not be disruptive. So, Fearless Vale on the road , a single goal will do at our hardest game left this season. Day and time to be confirmed to suit Royal Funeral.

Carlisle I'd say were on reflection of all home games witnessed (all bar harrogate even though I still paid for me lad watch it )were deserved winners over us looking back at that game while away in Somerset at rural retreat 1-0 with tall gangly lad outclassing us throughout ,forget his name but I think he scored one althoughcannot be certain ,and maybe should have added more as he led us a merry dance but not one id wish to attend .

Think that was the game when Askey dropped Joyce and Conlon and Whitehead had a few insipid shots at goal (all on target but wouldnt trouble a five year old keeper .

Team for this hope Montano is back .

Big ask 7 wins on trot think this is the game where the run ends ,think Carlisle are beginning mount a challenge for play offs and I think after last sat wherewe were not not in a footballing way good ,only in a stand there and defend way and Oyeleke has being sold (allegedly)do not see a suitable replacement for him in the squad at present to get us controlling the game so it's going be another game of defensiveness and kick and rush at a guess .

Who would I play I'd play this side it's got Oyeleke in it until its confirmed he was left the building .

              Brown

        Smith Legge Brisley

Worrall  Oyeleke(joyce) Burgess Montano

                  Conlon

           Cullen Guthrie

I'd like see how we do without joyce and I'd like see if Cullen can play with Guthrie.

Rodney and Robinson Taylor are going be here next year lets see who else is I'd like see Burgess given a go with Oyeleke ,and Amoo I'd like see if he is going be part of next seasons squad after all the prior season he was scoring and creating so let's see if he can get himself going last 5 with some goals and assists if selected .

No Oyeleke gone so I know we see if any of the others can step up and do a fantastic job for them DC and the support

Be interesting see who will replace him Jake Taylor's looked a bit off the pace in majority of games he has played in so I'd like see someone else, who well I ain't the manager maybe Gibbons could play as a attacking midfielder or move Worrall into Oyelekes position and bring Amoo in

Be interesting to see who replaces him I know we being defending well but you need players who can run deep into oppositions territory aswell that's what Oyeleke was doing superbly five of last six games ,along with Montano our most influential players along with Worrall Conlon and Rodney the rest do not influence somewhat .

It’ll be interesting to see with only 5 games to go if the manager plays some of the fringe players or if he’s already made his mind up about them.

Let’s just put it this way. If McKirdy and any of the other duffers stay at the expense of Manny, I’d be fuming.

It won’t happen. Manny was the start of a large clearout and perhaps long overdue in many cases..

If McKirdy has shown enough in training to deserve a starting place, I'll back him. Why not give everyone a clean slate as Clarke obviously has? I can't see it as he hasn't even been on the bench recently, but you never know.

A large clearout is only possible if players are out of contract or find someone else who wants them.  Theo and Whitehead are under contract for another year unfortunately.

We missed a penalty ( Pope ) at 0-0 and conceded within a few minutes. Carlisle were certainly nothing special at all . Had Pope scored we would of won that game.

Though in the end they deserved it.

Theo has scored 33 league goals since January 2017 in 70 starts, 69 sub appearances, McKirdy has scored 10, 35 starts, 37 sub appearances. I would keep Theo and bin off McKirdy based on those stats.

McKirdy isn't a striker. Theo is
