Match Thread: Harrogate v Port Vale

Fosse69

Recommended Posts

A day of firsts, Vale`s first league visit to Harrogate, first league goal there, first league win there, officiated by Rebecca Welch first female referee selected for an English Football League game. Harrogate 15th 4 games without a win, Vale 16th four wins on the trot, 2 points apart.  Let us make it 5 wins Vale, leap above them, on the way to an impossible dream. Pity SVA are not there to tell it to Yorkshire.

When was the last time we won 5 on the bounce please?

5 straight clean sheet wins in September 2010, Micky got Manager Of The Month.

The run ended when you got that flat tyre on the way to Oxford.

Is that about the time we battered Chesterfield 5-0? That run sounds familiar.

No, it was the start of the following season. The 5-0 at Chesterfield was March-ish when we almost made the play-offs.

Fairly sure we haven't won 5 on the spin since. I remember we won 6 in a row not long after the Everton and Leeds cup run in 1996. The Bogie 12 second goal was part of that run I think.

I'm definitely getting old.

When you said that we battered Chesterfield 5-0  I immediately thought of this game, which was following up on an excellent 6-1 defeat of Chester.  I remember watching both of those from the Bycars.

Well Betty's tea room can wait until next season. By all accounts Walsall should of beaten them comfortably yesterday.

The form and belief we have found gives me great confidence of another win.

0-2 to the mighty Vale

very overrated , stick to the pubs!😄:drink:

When we are confident of a win we have always disappointed and played poorly. I am hopeful that these traits are slowly being put to bed. If we continue to play like the last few games then with a little more composure we could really give someone a spanking. I would just be happy with a result but a win would be the icing on the cake. Definitely can’t take anything for granted. They are a nasty Newport type. Kick the ankles and if you get the ball as well happy days. It’s going to be a tough physical test so Clarkey will no doubt be thinking carefully about who to rotate (not allowed to ask though). Let’s not lose Manny to some hack job hoof ballers for <ovf censored> sake.
