New Training Facilities.

I have no issue with a new training ground and think there's a lot of positives to it, but I think 'it will make match days better for the players' is a weak argument.

Building a brand new training ground is a very expensive way of focusing/motivating remunerated footballers to do their job. The players should be up for match days whether they've trained there all week or not.

The benefits of a specialist training ground are numerous, but if we're looking to focus players on Saturdays we can do it in multiple ways before spending millions on a new facility.

Not saying I'm against a ground, just find this key argument a rubbish one.

Exactly,if players need motivation to play on match days they are in the wrong job.Mind you I'm sure Darrell is quite capable of spotting the ones that aren't up for it?

Ah ok it looks like the whole park, and Dimensions, was developed with national lottery funding with the council as the freeholder. That's a shame, I thought those pitches were ours. Although maybe some funds could be raised for a new site by the council buying the club out of their exclusive access to the land?

most of you young whippersnappers wont realise what the bycars was like in the 50s & 60s there was a fair size rubbish dump close to the allotments where the two training pitches are now, (also by the way, where synectics is now), there was a cycle speedway type track, then hills that ran down to a massive marlhole (ask your dad)! at the back of the bycars was bycars pool , a small fishing lake. next to the pool was a flat football pitch used, if i remember right, by Burslem Albion. smany supporters used to stand at the back of the stand at halftime and watch the albion play. if i remember right, subsidence caused the lake to disappear. i think the council then acted (most unusually) and landscaped the area to todays appearence. we had some mighty bonfire nights on the land by the allotments once using a dissussed telegraph pole from the vale  as a center pole massive bonfire. just an insight to how it was,😇☺️:drink:
