Yes it's just the ground that's being paid off in installments

Good post Tony.
Regarding the purchase I thought it was the total package in instalments but you raise a good point that it may / could have been just the ground, and the club purchased outright. Sure someone on here will know the answer.

It's just the ground. An installment scheme was at Gorm's suggestion/request btw. That money is seperate and ringfenced.

Are Cheltenham and Morecambe setting themselves up for long-term success? Or is it just going to be short-term burst before dropping back down again. I have no idea, but we look like we're trying to push ourselves forward so the progress is sustainable.

Good point, but that seems the cycle of nearly all L2 clubs. Let's hope that we can be an exception.

I can remember Carol saying that this was Standard business practice in deals like this. It gives the purchaser more working capital to build the business

Oh...and didn't DF become a Director when he was made Director of Football? I think there's a clue in the name?

Was added to Companies House as a Director literally the other day.

However, sometimes DoFs aren't board directors. In this case, Flitters is.

Most of football is predicated on installments/amortisation.

Daft for some to think Carol is cobbling together the pennies to bank transfer Norman on the 1st of the month. She knows what she's doing financially.

This seems to be the modern corporate way. It’s the same at our place there are more heads of than bottoms of

If we don't have a top 7 playing budget and squad to match next season I'd be very surprised. Our "Paul's" don't have to worry.

But you don't know that the playing budget is being reduced for every coach. Or do you? My point is that people are worrying and speculating about our finances because we're actually spending money with the future in mind. If it was Norm in charge, I could understand the concerns, as he did nothing for the Club without making sure as hell he'd get it back from the Club. Carol, I've absolutely no doubt is not putting the Club in any jeopardy with her business planning and if it doesn't work, Carol will own it, and take the hit herself. She hasn't an unlimited pot, sure, but do you really think she'd make these plans, or indeed any, without a full costing and projection?

I'm in no position to know what the playing budget will be, but obviously in any business for it to prosper, revenues must at least equal or ideally exceed expenditure. Revenues since 2019 have been dramatically lower because of the pandemic. It's going to take some pulling back of that deficit, let alone increase expenditure too far!

For the Vale  a reasonable target is upper L1, not lower half of L1 where yo-yo teams dwell. There will always be fast risers and droppers but most clubs average out.  We had a long spell above L2 from the late 80s so it is possible with careful management.  The Championship will become a much harder league to spend time in, but the odd visit would give a big boost.  We have the fan base  and population, owners with a vision, hopefully it will all come together

Ahhh - thank you. I hadn't checked, but I thought somebody on here mentioned he was a Director, shortly after his appointment?

We may have the financial backing to provide a "top 7" budget - but using it may still depend on what the EFL come up with to replace the salary cap? As with this season, Carol could have spent more on the squad, had that been allowed within the constraints of the cap. it wasn't, so she didn't.
