Do any of the people who are complaining about us signing more coaches think, maybe, the reason we have been absolutely rubbish for the best part of 15 years might be because we are woefully understaffed and haven't moved with the times?

We get a chairlady in who is trying to move us towards being a professional club, and people cry about it. Only at the vale.

Spot on........Smutwaite rinsed the club and put any money in his arse pocket Carol comes along and trys to improve the place and still they moan.

I've done a bit of research on Rooney & he seems like an impressive chap, especially aged just 31.

He's had a few stints at football league clubs in coaching roles, starting out in the Blackburn Academy. He was First Team Coach at Carlisle under Pressley & had a stint coaching at Fleetwood.

Most notably bagged the Assistant Managers job at Crawley when they appointed Gabriele Cioffi as Manager a few years ago. He was the guy who took them on the League Cup run where they beat (at the time) Premier League Stoke. Cioffi is now the Assistant Manager at Serie A, Udinese & recently took credit for an away win at Lazio whilst the current Udinese manager was struck down with Covid.

Rooney moved on to take the First Team Coach job at non league Colne FC where he had them top of their respective league, above the likes of Marine FC (Who played Spurs in the Cup this year) The non league season then finished & he's ended up with ourselves.

Looks a really impressive individual to me. You don't have the qualifications & CV at 31 that he's got, without knowing your stuff & being absolutely dedicated to the cause. Looks a solid acquisition.

Thank you Carol, loving your work. Welcome Nathan and good luck!

Reading through the sentinel article, he looks very experienced, motivated and talented considering his age and achievements to date. It looks like Clarke is surrounding himself with people who have an stirring passion and drive for doing things a certain way. I think Walsall have been basing their assessment on a manager with his hands tied financially team-wise and a cheap backroom structure. Let's see what he can do with a competent and generous backer.

May be more of a consultancy role ensuring consistency of coaching at the Vale,  is he not studying for his Pro Licence and Management qualifications as well ?
Hes got his UEFA pro licence amongst others but he's studying for some sort of best manager in the universe qualification aswell.

We've been rotting for 20 years and although it seems like a lot of staff it's probably not we are a professional football club that has had 3 or 4 blokes looking after the whole set up

It also takes more staff to build up the structure, once that is done it does not take so many to run it. Go with the  flow, let us enjoy it for a change.
