Would anybody take scott quigley as he is clearly alot better player than what he was at vale a few years ago.

As predicted the obsession with ex players. Lazy recruitment is what cost Askey his job.

Having so many players out of contract, and the players most would want to resign being contracted beyond this season, is a fantastic position to be in.

New players for a new manager, no realistic chance of getting worse players than some of those that will go, and a structured medical / analysis structure should reduce the threat of worsening to virtually zero.

I’m cautious having been excited before, but I don’t see any scenario where the current managerial team release the deadwood of 20th-odd finishing squad and don’t drastically improve.

The strike force is something I’m really looking at with interest, as that is almost a clean slate (how to solve a problem like Theo) and a lot of buckaroos being freed up.

For me, in addition to that, I think we also need

a CDM replacement as Joyce will be 34

2 of those forwards

LW. Hurst not ready, Amoo too inconsistent/always injured. Wouldn't be particularly disappointed to see him go.

Hurst has done enough...admittedly, inconsistently...to suggest he might develop into a good player with better players around him?

Agree with that. CDM has to be a nasty destroyer. I like Joyce and he has a lot of qualities, but he won't destroy a midfield. Need a Griffith figure.

Never have too many wingers at this level. As we saw in 12/13, they are the difference in chance creation.

I suspect DC will push to enlarge the Vale pitch? I've never been to Brizzle R, but, apparently that's a big pitch, too, and DC said he liked big pitches...but you have to have the athletes to get up and down them (paraphrased) - so, if that happens, we may need a good selection of wingers? I'd personally love the pitch to go big, again - those teams playing on narrow and/or smaller pitches must be knackered playing on ours? I remember Collymore and Chris Coleman...and another Fulham player...saying the same thing! They still beat us though, but they were a League lower than they should have been!

Well we all certainly have different ideas and rightly so , be boring otherwise.

But I'm struggling personally to see Courtney Senior, Stuart Sinclair and Quigley on our radar. If those 3 start in August I'll get my map out to Boreham wood .

Whichever way we go the defence needs sorting to concede 19 goals more than Stevenage is worrying to say the least, they were very lucky to even be in the league. Again many of the players may be better under a strict training and fitness regime so we have to put our faith in the management to sort this. Re Stevenage I wonder what or who the difference is defensively, I can’t imagine that any of there defence is on big money.

Sometimes it is down to pure organisation and the team as a whole rather than individuals. Think Prosser is one new defender and maybe one from Luton ?

You only have to look at Burnley in the Greed League.

Generally bottom half but always one of the meanest defences, they have no stars just a pure team ethos.

This season they have only conceded 1 more than Liverpool and 2 more than West Ham despite being in the bottom 6 .

I think Stevenage maybe are much harder to beat and as we know a grim watch. But Revell has certainly done a good job seeing as they only were saved by the Macclesfield debacle.
