Team well I'd be going with this team .

Brown

Mills Legge Smith Montano (Brisley if injured Monty is )

Worrall Oyeleke Joyce Rodney

            Conlon

               GUTHRIE (Cullen )

That's my team Robinson just seems incapable of scoring and I felt when Guthrie come on last week he made a very good cameo .

Pope on bench but hopefully he will not be needed .

1-0 Vale Guthrie

Same team as Colchester for me. Brisley CB and Smith RB is the best back line we have without Gibbons imo.

Robinson up front and change for Pope on the hour.

It’s good to see that we are switching formation in game now and the players seem to quickly adapt themselves. Better than setting up with the same formation and personnel regardless of who we’re playing, what formation they’re in and how the game’s going.

In fairness, neither Robinson and Guthrie seem capable of scoring but at least Guthrie actually puts in a bit of effort, but lets face it they are both <ovf censored>.  The sooner Pope gets back in the better.  Would love to see him play in a two with Rodney.  Don't think we've seen that yet.

Whilst you're right about Robinson and Guthrie there's a lot of high expectations around Pope.  Let's not forget that we're talking about a guy coming towards the end of his career, who's returning after injury.  No doubt he can do us a job, but let's be level headed about what we should reasonably expect.  Tom's a welcome option for sure but he's not going to come straight into the team and look like Lionel Messi.

Disagree I’d pick the best 11 to beat the opposition. I’ve never really understood keeping the same 11. You should pick the best possible 11 and formation to win that particular game IMO

It is up to the manager to inform the players on how he will pick the team,  DC seems to prefer a formation for a game. Whether he rotates players or has a keep the shirt policy I think he would be open about. Keeping the players motivated is his job.

I suppose this game is another test of our progress so far, I hope we don’t disappoint! I would take a point now, but in reality we should be hammering these sides. I think it shows how far we have fallen. Anyway lads please try to make my weekend with a result.UTV

By and large in league 2 your best team to win a game has your best 11 players in it. You can play around with the system a little but your best players need to be doing a role which suits them. There isn't a squad in The Premier League, let alone League 2, with 20 players of interchangeable quality. Really when a manager picks a team to beat the opposition it's more to try and get a 0 0 draw by packing the side with defenders; rather than trying to win a game.

In terms of Montano some fans have a real downer on him as a fullback. Going forward there is only Bramhall who is better in this league. Defensively we didn't concede less with Fitzpatrick in the side; a player who is about average for a defensive fullback at this level. For me a fit Montano is in the top 5 leftbacks in league 2. That said the quality of leftbacks in this league is distinctly average.
