Match Thread: Colchester United v Port Vale

After last night`s great win over Newport 4th from the top we travel to Colchester 4th from the bottom. A 6 pointer, and an opportunity to build a run and climb from the abyss. After having waited for a DC win another win will surely come along?  Robbo`s first goal for the Vale was against Colchester in his first spell in March 2016, maybe another in his second spell having scored 11 for Colchester last season he should know where their net is. A run in the team and DC`s magic who knows. Hoping no injuries were incurred, leaving the team to DC, and a win to whoever is selected to give a great performance.

3 points last night moved this from a must win to a must not lose.

That said I’m feeling more confident given the recent performances and hopefully we can get the win and put some real distance between us and the bottom 2 as well as push Colchester right into the danger zone.

Looking forwards to it the same intensity and character and work rate required .

Team well leave it be, hopefully Oyeleke can last a bit longer but if he as a good 45 minutes in him great that's all we may need .

A big game happy with last night hope its lifted them all and it shows saturday .

Avery tough game Colchester got two 0-0 draws from away games at Grimsby and Salford so make no mistake about it if we are not spot with our attitude application and commitment we will come a cropper

it would be good to be able to play the same team with no injuries and give them chance to play together consistently. only changing personnel who are underperforming / fill ins rather than because of injuries.

Big game, win this and we are almost there, probably only need 2-3 points from the last 9 then. (Maybe not even that).

They struggle for goals and oddly don’t think they actually have an out and out striker, they flogged Norris to Stevenage, Gambin as we know went Newport so not sure why, possibly financial decisions.

We battered these at home but were wasteful and had to take a point.

It’s a winnable one, sounds like they struggle to score goals.

If we can somehow get 4 points from these two winnable away trips then I’d be absolutely delighted.

Play like we did first half last night and we’ve a chance.

good game for robinson to grab a goal. old club and all that

The only problem is with this comment and I fully agree with you it would be nice for him to score a couple of goals.  Robinson would have to show more interest and put some effort in to chase the balls, dribble past defenders and try to hit the goal.  He only does it when he wants to and that seems to be not a lot.

Was hoping when he came back to us and said he had unfinished business, he would have improved and would show us his goal scoring skills.  However, he seems not bothered most of the time on the pitch at the moment.  Hopefully under a new manager and now he is getting match fit as DC says this will happen.  Jury waits on that one I think.

They struggle for goals

Indeed they do!  Since they scored in a 1-1 draw at Vale they have played 10 more away games and scored once - they have failed to score in their last 9.  They've also scored only 7 goals in their 8 home games since then.  That's a total of 8 goals in their last 18 games.

What do they do?  Park their bus in the goal area?
