Match Thread: Port Vale v Newport County

Recommended Posts

Well deserved Vale. Injury free win, that has been coming for a few games.

Subs, game management, man management, tactical setup.

This is what gives me confidence in this manager going forward for next season.

Hopeful that this will relieve some pressure on the lads, and even Robinson can get a goal against the club we signed him from on Saturday (I actually thought his forward play tonight was pretty decent - better than a Guthrie aimless flick on).

Some of our more established players who we expected to come back in this run played well, Montano, Amoo, Worrall, Oyeleke - takes the pressure off Hurst being an outlet and hoping for Rodney to constantly provide a bolt out the blue.

Over the moon, well done lads, well done DC, have a day off s**t posters. Still plenty of games left and could see us based off the past few performances getting to the lofty heights of 14th this season.

I don't know who it was and i'm not taking away the right to an opinion. But a while back someone despite Worrall being second to KDB in the entire country for assists still wasn't happy as he doesn't

Thank goodness for Worrall though  Team effort all excellent but he has literally ran through a brick wall with his dodgy ankle

Sneering at Vale players who are selected to play is wrong what does it achieve ?

Not sure about league 2 but in the Prem the rule is now that, if the ball hits the ref and possession changes hands the game is stopped for a drop ball.

Not just the Prem - "If the ball touches the referee or another match official and goes into the goal, or results in a change of possession or a promising attack, a dropped ball will be awarded."  The ball is usually dropped for the team who had possession.

That's it!  There'll be no stopping us now.  I'm thinking play offs now . Oh ok, perhaps not but what a relief tonight.  Feels like I've won the lottery! 😄  Well done to all concerned .  3 much needed points. 👍

emoji3.png you must have lost a fair bit this season with this lot

First time on Vale this season, it was a promotional free bet so I thought sod it. Didn't trust the bstards though, thumb was always hovering on that cashout button...

I thought tonight games....  getting <ovf censored> in there YEEESSSSS!!!!

Got a headache for all the shouting at the TV.

1st half played great football just not clinical enough with our chances.

2nd half we seemed quite slow and lethargic, looked like we where dying on our arse BEFORE they equalised but for the 1st time since I can remember the players showed some character. We had some real proper battlers and leaders out there tonight.  You could go through the whole team who were all at least a 7 even the much maligned Mills and Robinson.

Another performance like that and points on Saturday and we can start to feel a little bit better about ourselves.

Worrall, Manny and Monty turn this team from no hope of scoring to attack after attack. To say we’ve missed them would be a huge understatement.

Brilliant win. Just shows the importance of having our best players on the pitch. Having Montano, Oyeleke, Worrall and Amoo fit will only make us better. Thought Amoo’s experience and ability to hold the ball helped us towards the end of the game.

First half we were very good, played with purpose and took the foothold in the game. Second half we weren’t nearly as good and seemed to say back. However, we ground it out and battled to the win. We would normally end up losing that game.

Anyone know the stat for the number of points that usually means safety? Bit like the 40 point myth in the prem?

In the last few years the team with the lowest points that has stayed up has been on 43-48 points.

4 points from the next two games will soothe the nerves of some on here.  Dunner fret Valiants.  We are going to be safe.

Well fellow Valiants I did tell you. Keep the faith, the lads are gelling now and we WILL be safe.
