Match Thread: Port Vale v Newport County

The visit of yet another Top 7 team, 3 wins on the trot after a slight stutter.  Used to playing on a rugby pitch so should be fairly fit.  As injuries mount again and goals remain elusive, a crucial week with also  the visit to Colchester will require a change of fortune to steady many nerves. Are we likely to be looking for more than one point against Newport?

More than a point would obviously be ideal, yes they had a good win yesterday but one was a pen and the others were against 10 men.

we came close to a point V Bolton so should be able to get at least a point on Tuesday.

0-0 at best.

A side who were ripe for beating on the original date. As expected now back in the mix and on form.

Almost no point second guessing anything at the moment.

No idea who plays left back and assuming Swan is out does that mean Guthrie is back in favour.

It's almost a choice between Guthrie and Robinson , good god almighty. Good luck with that Clarkey

Another dash of rotten luck playing these now when they have rediscovered some form. They were in dire straights when the original fixture was postponed.

Alas, it's another home game & Cheltenham apart, we've been in every single one of Clarke's games as manager so far.

Clear for all to see that scoring goals is a massive issue for us. Whilst it's encouraging that we've started to create some chances, it means very little unless the ball ends up in the back of the net.

I feel we need the opening goal on Tuesday night otherwise it could be another long evening for us. A penalty, in off someone's arse, literally anything will do at this stage. We are long, long, long overdue an undeserved scruffy win against somebody. Now would be the perfect time for a slight tilt in fortunes.

You also have to factor in that Nicky Maynard might well get a game & the evergreen Kevin Ellison is one of those damned players who seems to love playing against us. The script is almost written you feel.

I'd take a point right now ahead of a monumental game on Saturday against Colchester.

I`d put Conlon to left back. Manny or Taylor in midfield with Amoo on the right and Wozza on the left and Guthrie up front, We will miss Crookes who has been solid lately.

So Brown, Mills, Legge, Smith, Conlon, Joyce, Taylor, Amoo,Rodney, Guthrie, Worrall  not a bad side for the conference that.
