Just watched Quest.

Southend battered these, hit the woodwork twice and couple of okay saves from the Oldham keeper.

We got away with one there

If we don't beat them on Tuesday then that's massively ominous

They are dire at home but decent away, that said they’ve like us had a few missing including their top scorers.

Got to keep Bahamboula quiet though.

It’s a must win really as Bolton looks tough then we can go into more winnable ones after that with some hope. 2 wins from the next 4 is a must for me.

Whoever finishes below Southend is going down. We have a small gap ahead of them so we just need to match their results. 0-0 with Oldham therefore wouldn't be the worst result in the world but we can't afford to lose

My team, assuming it’s the same slim pickings again due to injuries is:

Brown

Smith Legge Brisley Crookes

Rodney Joyce Conlon Hurst

Swann Robinson (😭)

We have got to find a way of getting a tune out of our most creative midfielder and a striker that can score goals in this league but who so far has looked like a competition winner.

Id also be inclined to play Hurst and Rodney on the opposite flanks, so they have to play inside as it’s pointless sticking to many ball in the box with those two up front.

I would agree with that team, but have a feeling Brown will be dropped.

Fairly brave to play only two experienced midfielders, but we are at home and should be looking for a win wherever we're playing. Brisley was a liability last time out, but do you want your liability in central defence, or wide (Mills)?

Got to play 3 up front

Hurst to build on his goal + has some energy

Rodney is his best position

Swann down the middle as our main goal threat.

its not like playing Guthrie gives us a striker who holds the ball up, so why not play a different way and get this ball to supporting strikers down the flanks.

it didn’t work last time because Rodney and Swan together couldn’t get the ball down and play. Doesn’t mean they should never be tried together again, and those 3 are the only ones showing any promise goals wise.

solid 3 in the middle, flat back line.

simple, and works whoever we have available.

Possibly, it would certainly send out a(nother) message. Not entirely sure this is a game for a rookie keeper though.

I can see your point, but would a rookie keeper have dropped that clanger for the first goal yesterday, to me that was basic for a keeper

Brisley has an off game but is moderately solid overall. I would put Smith at RB and play Legge and Brisley in the centre. Monty, if not Crookes LB.

I don't understand why people constantly say 'we won't go down', as if it's a given we're a League club? Much much larger clubs have gone down, all over the world! This season, just look at ie. Germany where Schalke 04, a GIANT German club, are planted solidly rock bottom in the Bundesliga. In Brazil, Vasgo da Gama which are one of the biggest clubs over there, went down . And I'm sure there are more I'm not aware of.

I hope on everything holy we are not going down, I'm just not taking it as a given we are staying up. We have to earn it!
