Nice and positive if we realise that none of our players are good in the air bar Legge and pass it on the floor theres no reason why we cannot win some games but we will never win games if we do not show imagination, we do do something positive like try beat a man especially near the oppositions penalty area .

We have 14 games all winnable we have just played Cambridge and Salford where the difference between us and them is one moment each game where we have not done the basics ,let's hope in our next 14 games its the opposition who do not do the basics and we do not keep giving teams undeserved wins v us with our ineptitude not the oppositions great play there goal last night summed us up all season being caught with our pants down when we should have being the team scoring ,did Whitehead Crookes Smith and Brisley go sleep looked like it to me a goal you be ashamed concede playing sunday league

UTV

My point is we've won 3 in 22. What makes people think we're going to suddenly win 4 out of the last 14 or so?

The players are crap and have no confidence.

Watch which clubs our released players end up at. I doubt a very low percentage will remain in the league.

For me. It’s 100% not the fault of DC. Yes the football has been horrible so far however he’s been left this rubbish by askey and co. For me, Carol has to take a large amount of blame (I know I will get stick for this so tin hat at the ready). However we delayed far too long it getting rid of askey. It made sense to do so before the transfer window so the new manager could bring in his own players to fit his style. This could have been done. Instead we delayed and delayed and at one point even said we hadn’t bothered to start interviewing yet. We sign a load of what seems dross again in January and unsurprisingly our new manager dosent seem to rate them. Surely it was simple? Get a decent manager in and let HIM sign players, not players that askey had identified or Danny Pugh with his extremely unsuccessful loan signings in the past. The whole thing is a mess and I kind of agree with Carl on praise and grumble that maybe we’ve been persuaded into this DOF something that before flitcroft mentioned it, we had no intention of.

If we go down, all parties are to blame. Askey for the truly atrocious lazy signings, DC as even with the mess left I would expect us to have just enough to survive (with the points gap). Carol (or colin whoever it is) for messing around in January with the appointment and leaving it far too late and of course our spineless players. I couldn’t care less if any of them left tomorrow. It’s strange being desperate to get back into vale park once we are allowed, yet not really wanting to at the same time.

It's a good point. We're all sitting here blaming Askey's recruitment and injuries. Well the five lads signed in the January transfer window are all fit but where were they against Salford? Three on the bench and two couldn't even make it that far.

We were crap under the last few months under Askey but January has killed us

It only needs one fluky goal of someones arse to win and change to transform the confidence of the team.

It think its noticeable the defence have looked a lot more confident in the last few games which is a good place to start. Clarke just needs to tweak it a little bit to make us more dynamic.

Who was behind signing those players in the window and handing out a big contract to Taylor ? I'm wondering if Carol has realised she was stitched up and didn't understand the business, thats why Flitcroft was set on to keep an eye on these agents and chancers who get second rate lads into our club

Taylor was signed purely because he was popular here in my opinion.

Forest gave him a contract in the summer because there was interest and they can afford to just do that kind of thing. He was obviously never really in their plans.

He did nowt at Scunthorpe and there couldn't have been a clamour from then to take him from under our noses.

In fact, apart from the odd goal, I don't remember him actually doing too much for us last season.  He didn't control any games that I can remember. Unless he scores, I have to say, I forget he's there.

He can't not be match fit, surely? Unless he never really played much at Scunny which tells it's own story.

I don't think Clarke rates him.

So, your back to the manager being left with a squad he doesn't rate including signings he wouldn't have made had he had the transfer window.

Askey should have been gone before Christmas and we should have at least had Flitcroft overseeing signings.

As has been said, hopefully we stay up, then watch where everyone ends up.  Be a mass clearout I should have thought.

God its needed.

CLARKEY THE CLOWN SAY’S HE’S TAKING US DOWN

Stupid post. Was Clarke to blame for results October to January? He has inherited a very poor squad bereft of talent and confidence and to make matters worse riddled with long term injuries. He has taken on a poison chalice, thanks to the previous management team.

Spent most of his time at scunny on the bench askey has to take the blame for our current position horrendous signings most are non league standard but also and I don’t like to say this carol has to shoulder some blame hanging on with askey and then Pugh far to long , Clarke at least needed a couple of weeks of the January transfer window

Granted this squad of players are <ovf censored> but this manager ain't much better in my opinion!!

Sadly even after 5 games I'm thinking this. something didn't sit right with both his and Flitcrofts press conferences. Bit much, over the top. Sadly I've been around football for too long, particularly Vale and the lower leagues. I hope I'm wrong and want to be positive. Nothing points me to that at the moment.

The word 'chancers' could be pointed at many on the payroll at Vale atm. I won't say more than that.
