In my biased opinion I am beginning to suspect that this is not about what is best for Port Vale Football Club, this is just about proving a point for Clarke. I think he is quick to take the credit for success but quick to blame others if it goes wrong. We will recruit players who are clever enough to say what they think he wants to hear.

Clarke has to back his own judgement.  Ultimately it’s his players, and their ability to deliver results, upon which his future employment depends.  In terms of the first team, what’s best for Clarke is what’s best for Port Vale.

So that's it then: 21 players gone or going...15 out of contract, 2 loan players, Oyeleke transferred, and 3 on the list. Plus a senior coach. Some going!

This has been a long time coming and much needed, sweeping away the dross and providing the basis for a complete new build. No longer Port Vale the soft touch where sentiment rules OK...these guys mean business.

Next, and much anticipated, announcing our new players...the future is bright 🙂

This could all go very wrong, but I'm just excited that is has been recognised that this club has been stuck in the late 90s for decades, and bar a miraculous 12/13 season, we've had basically nothing to get excited about.

We've been a fairly rubbish club to support for over 20 years so I'm happy to gamble here. It's better than more of the same, which was wearing very, very thin.

After the shocking form served up by many of those players, a throughly good clear out was always on the cards. There are many bad eggs in that old group.... why would you go and apologize to Carol?

Well done Clarke lad! It’s about time someone has the balls to sort out the mess!

Bruno levels of signings, let’s just hope we can all hit the ground running!

Personally, I'm glad Amoo is staying because, on his day (not too many of them this season, I know), he is a match winner.

I'm also pleased that Amoo is staying. Yes, he can be anonymous for 89 minutes but then produce one cross or shot that wins the game.

Keep him fit and he's an asset in this division.

Given that he is likely one of the higher earners currently, shouldn't we expect more than a player who regularly goes missing for 89 minutes of 90?

He did provide the cross for Pope v's Man City.. Can't remember what else he did in that game (maybe nothing!). Agree an asset in this division if he stays fit.

DC probably feels he could change that about his game, get him fit, running faster than ever, more confident in front of goal, but this doesn't happen overnight

Nailed it. Again.

A shame for Burgess, mind.

Amoo is frustrating but is a valuable weapon to have in the squad. His pace, if his fitness is sorted (which Clarke wants to do club-wide) is frightening.

Joe, I agree with your point on Burgess. I thought that the 2019/2020 season him and Taylor complemented each other and it was a decent partnership. That’s why I was disappointed that Taylor went off to Scunthorpe at the beginning of last season.

If Theo moves on, that would be an incredible achievement. I’d know if I was him, I’d want to fight for my place. I can’t see anyone else daft enough to give him money anywhere else.
We did. So someone else might. He scores goals at this level. Just not for us
