Match Thread: Port Vale v Cambridge United

Anybody ever thought that Cambridge may have had a off day yesterday

They’d picked up 1 win in 4 and less points than us over those 4 games, just don’t think they are that good, it’s a poor league this year (they’ve already lost 9 which is ridiculous for a side top) and rely on the form of Mullin who’s having the season of his life, alongside Hoolahan.

In fact is anyone good in this league this year? FGR looked poor both times, Cheltenham and Exeter didn’t look anything either, Quality is miles down on last year which shows what a right mess we have made of it.

Sums it up when Bolton and Bradford where below us a month ago. Ones now in the play offs the other just outside.

Pretty much. There’s no Swindon or Plymouth this year. It’s all a much of a muchness.

It is indeed a flatter league this year in terms of quality.  Automatic promotion will likely be achieved by 3 teams not hitting the usual benchmark of averaging 2 points + per game

Pope is still the best we have up top.
So when he is fit then play to his strengths.
whoever is playing on the wings need to keep it simple.
Get the bal!, Get to the bye-line, stand it up to the back post.
No one, absolutely no one, will stop Pope scoring at the back post.
Please. Plenty of teams have stopped pope scoring this season and last. He's only scored in 2 games this season. Get a grip. Once again, pope scores a lot more when he's not playing

Our pitch today was god awful. More craters on it than the moon. Ball bobbling about like a beach ball. And to think some folk on here want it extending back to its former size. Has speedy been de registered?
My first thought when I saw it was, a deliberate ploy which would effect Cambridge's style more than ours. My opinion hasn't changed.

Three goals from 7 starts for Pope this season. We'd be safely in mid-table if we had Pope fit all season

Pope has been injured for 8 league games. His inability to score or assist, when available ,is one of the reasons we are currently in the <ovf censored>.He scored twice against, his words,”The worst team he has ever seen “.That was the only league game we have won when he has scored .That day he was up against a kid.People need to move on from Pope. He’s a back number.I await’he doesn’t get the service’ bo11ock5.

It was a knee jerk reaction but since studying everything, a little doubt has crept in about definitely losing to Salford. As it's such a good cause I'll take you up on it. We Are Going To Lose The Next 3!!! emoji6.png

After the massive point v Oldham, have you knee jerked your cheque book out yet? 😉
