i was looking at the lost games stats. And I think we lost 10 to finish 3rd and get promoted. They have lost 9 already in season to date and are top. So they aren't great, they really aren't.

Again i have to ask, if they arent great, neither are FGR to many, then what does that make us.

They are going to finish 30 + points above us and possible achieve promotion. we will be happy to stave off relegation. This season they are miles better than us. Cannot just look at 90 minutes.

We have no alternative but to have faith Aguar61, my point is that how on earth have we arrived at this point?

It's hard to believe, that knowing we had no support for Tom pope apart from Cullen who obviously now has fitness issues we end up in this mess apart from Rodney who looks our only glimmer of a goal. Let's hope he sticks a couple on Salford Tuesday!! You never know but I won't be running to the bookies!!!

I "nearly" had a bet on us for promotion!!

Pete,I just feel were coming out of the mire that was Smirfs legacy and the detritus of browns stay. Many of the wins we had last season could have been so easily not,I never felt that Askey had a real plan. I think Clarke is a guy with a strong idea of what will work. I hope he is right

They lost to Tranmere. My Tranmere friends are hopeful of sneaking up on auto promotion after a slow start to the season. Note Cambridge have Tranmere's ex striker scoring for them and Tranmere let him go because of Vaughan. Much travelled but mainly at higher levels.

They dont have to sneak.

They are a good team and will finish in the top three.

I think, certainly in my case a part of you expects things to go wrong being a Vale supporter, certainly since the Rudge era. But yes, we came good again for a season with Horton, same for a couple with Micky, we should have backed Page. Since then we have been lucky to retain league status, this no exception.

We do have stability off the field (I hope the finances stack up?), endorsed by the appointments of Flitcroft and Clarke. Massive risk appointing the 'dynamic duo' by Carol.  I just don't think we have enough goals to survive, may be a formation change, bit of luck, Rodney excels, Pope comes back, Amoo starts to play and Worrall gets a few then who knows.

Stick a tenner on a win at Salford amd a brace for 'Delboy'!!

Heart 2-0 Vale

Head 3-0 Salford

We don't have the kind of players we need right now but I think that we are heading towards where we should be with the new appointments. We both want the same thing I think, but we have to have patience.

I'm paient after 40 odd years. Losing league status would be devastating. looking at the form tables, ours is rubbish but barrow, Grimsby and Colchester are worse. Odds suggest 20th/ 21st place, this lack of goals, particularly when defending and playing OK, worries me, it did early season with Askey.

Football is a 'funny old game' as Greavsie used to say. Win at salford and we get another breather. get battered in the next x2 games, and...

It's Vale... "It is what it is" as many say... Who did the recruitment, was it John Askey or Arthur Askey?!!!

Guess your interpretation of mire is the possibility of being related to the conference !!!!! Well I’m sure DC will have a plan of how to get us out of the conference. Ps as a matter of interest how many teams have bounced back to division 4 at the first attempt after relegation?

I recognise that we are fellow sufferers . It's a badge we wear with pride but with more hope than surety. I'm also a socialist so lost causes are my thing, cheers Amigo.

😀Go steady, you never know "everything good comes, to he, who waits" or so they say... Suffering is an integral part of the job description for a Vale fan....

So its all based on what you believe?

I do hope the irony isn't lost on you that I posted a fact and you have taken against it with a "belief" of what me stating those facts implies...

I can't wait for you to try and shut somebody down on a political thread because they aren't posting facts.

🤣🤣

Yeah yeah I totally believe you just posted that stat because you love numbers and thought the rest of us couldn’t do the maths. Definitely. For sure. No other explanation.

No other motive al all. Definitely. For real.

Well we’ve tried different combinations up front and I have to say that none of them have been successful. The player who is going to save our season and assure our football league status AGAIN will be Tom Pope. I just hope he’s fit and raring to go. If this does happen then we’ll need to give TP a new twelve month contract because we’ve failed to find a replacement even though we’ve  known for a couple of years that his career was coming to an end.

Our fixtures seem pretty typical. If we don't win games we will be relegated. We need to get some points from the next two games and then average more than a point a game. In the key games against teams near the bottom we must not lose and winning will make a big difference. We can't hope that Pope coming back will make the difference. Nor anyone else really. It starts with what we have at Salford. At the end of the day, none of these teams are particularly good, the gap to be bridged isn't huge. But we have to start scoring.

Hopefully Rodney will have a point to prove Tuesday, lets start there....
