Carl gets rung up and asked to go on because he's got an angle.

These people have got a radio programme to make and they need to spark a debate somehow. What point is there in putting level headed callers on the radio if all people do is nod their heads and agree?

There's a fine line between being provocative and edgy, and people just thinking you're a ***bhead. There was an old Sports presenter called Rob McKeon who fell into the latter category, as did the bloke off the mid morning show in the 90s (Jason Dean?)

If people want to ring up and engage with it then fair enough. I'd rather stick Radio 3 on and do some mindfulness exercises.

Used to love listening to Jason Dean he had some right rows on there mainly to do with smoking at the time,he always seemed to have an opposite opinion to the caller made great radio imo

I remember when we had a home game v Stoke called off for a frozen pitch between Christmas and New Year (I think it was 94/95 season). He spent the entire show trying to whip up the controversy that we didn't have undersoil heating.

He always used to have a pop at the Vale.

Because the fans turned on him, albeit from afar.

We will see what happens now, we have double the input, there is going to be a large turnover of players whichever league we are in.  I predict by Christmas these pages are filled with folk wanting another change.  Clarke and DF are charged with a long term strategy, but fans won't accept that if we are not winning matches.

The fans weren't there. If you must blame anyone but Askey then look at the players. They were the ones who suddenly lost the ability to win matches of football post Kings Lynn. Askey was sacked because of a long run of awful results.

We will see won’t we. One thing is for sure it was clear where we were heading under askey. Who is the reason we are in this mess and have a squad full of competition winners. Not sure how you can think askey was building something! You generally have to move forwards for that to happen. The whole transfer window was the issue. Last year I think we did improve and we’re building, then he signed some of the worst players I’ve seen down the vale and we’ve gone alarmingly backwards. Then defeat after defeat it seems he lost the squad     . He had to go however so do most of the players. Clarke has been given time with a long deal which I think is risky from the club. If performances improve of course he will get time. Vale fans are no different to other fans, if we improve he will get time. If we are dire which I don’t think we will be then questions will be asked as at every club.

Also, askey leaving has nothing to do with the fans. If fans were there he would have gone much much sooner. He and the players were very lucky in that respect.

Radio Stoke have a list of their favourites to contact each week if the lines are quiet,no doubt about that. They give the normal chosen few plenty of air time in contrast to the amount given to other less regular "callers".I get sick of hearing their "come on Vale(or Crewe) fans give us a call, where are you?",when we know the programme is sorted !!Last night we needed our" Dave "with his "Attack, attack, attack "as that was bloody missing

A few years ago I was driving home after the match and my mate who was with me rang P&G as they were saying the usual 'Come on Vale fans, where are you?' They said they'd call him back. After 20 minutes they hadn't rung but but were still saying 'Come on Vale fans...' he rang again and asked why they kept saying there were no Vale fans ringing in when he had something to say. They again said they'd ring back, but never did.

Neither of us ever bothered again.

Well they want to stop calling that young lad, the Stoke supporter, who rwckons he's got a shot of being on match of the day when he's older. More cringe along with that Angela.

Very unfair. The young lad has more knowledge than 95% of callers

That angela monotone voice does drive me mad.
