We have played 7 games and signed 5 players since he was sacked and are closer to the bottom two than we were before then.

Impossible to say with any certainty, but I suspect we would have lost these last 2. As for the other 5 post-Askey games...it was still his squad and, largely, his ideas / training being implemented!

Yes, Barrow and Grimsby have both won...but Mansfield and Colchester have both lost. Mansfield now been dragged into the mix. It's a useful point for us, tonight - not a good one, but useful. I'm not

I think some people need to give players a bit of time. Guthrie's had six games after being out in the cold for some time at Bradford. For me, he's still finding match sharpness but that will only com

First job was to stop leaking goals, we've done that tonight. That's a positive.

Do we just need better hoofball type players?  Hope Clarke is in the process of eliminating what works and what doesn't,  but our pitch works great for teams who know how to use the space so I hope he doesn't resort to that crap as a way to play, even if it is early days.

If it works I don’t care at this point, I just want wins. Problem is we’re playing hoofball with two midgets up top who can’t win any headers.

I have to say, I was one of those asking for 5-3-2 but we don’t have the players for it at all.

The midfield three that finished are just not suited at all to that system and neither, perhaps surprisingly, did Monty and Gibbo look particularly comfortable in it.

Yes, we looked solid at all he back but the distribution was awful.

I dread to think what midfield we’ll have out on Saturday.

Two abysmal teams fighting it out. Utter dross. We are very much in the relegation scrap despite the points gap. Our next few games are very very tough.

Back 3 looked very good however, Crookes looked the best I've seen him.

Could be that we only played a bottom six team. Poor team at that

It was clear to see after 20 minutes that 3-5-2 actually turned out to be 5-3-2. Added to that we had Joyce playing as a holding midfielder.

What disappointed me is that we never changed formation and just stuck with it. We could have gone 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 with 30 minutes to go and actually tried to lay a glove on them.

It was as if we actually wanted to draw that game 0-0. Yes we need to tighten up and stop clean sheets but we were playing Stevenage at home, come on.

I’m not sure Jake Taylor should be playing wide midfield.Looked lost.Clark looks like he’s a bit of a tinkerman, only he won’t be winning the Premier anytime soon.Dogshit performance.

Dont believe that was a negative set up. 532 negative set up would have played Mills and Fitzpatrick.

We had our best two full backs for attacking.

We had two attacking midfielders

We had two up front.

Problem being we were awful, against a bottom six team

Not having that. Gibbons barely got past the half way line. Conlon has clearly been told to be conservative and hold his position. The back 3 or 5 were ridiculously deep.

I think one of the reasons the 3 centre backs played well tonight was because we had 3 yes 3 of them against Stevenage. We played in a way that our spare man was a centre half whilst we were overun in midfield. I don't think any of the midfielders could hold their heads high after tonight's performance but there was probably a reason for that.

I preferred Askeys 433 to that rubbish tonight

We play like a poor team because we are a poor team. Watch our games if you are in any doubt, or even check our league position if you are still unsure.

Yes . I Do agree , vale are poor . And it was proven in tonight game .  So upset . All we can say it was 0-O .

Conlon’s worst two performances of the season have come under Clarke. On the past two showings I don’t think the style of football will suit Conlon at all.

Forget the style of play you mention.

When Conlon gets the ball he is suppose to play football. He has not done that.

The quality on the ball is abysmal, Clarke has got a lot of work to do in the close season and it will be a miracle if we are challenging for anything but mid table next season.

This is a big job and whoever took over from Askey would struggle.

6 points from last 8 games under Askey, 9 points in 8 games since he left.  He has left us a load of rubbish which is going to take a long time to recover from, saying that no excuse for that tonight, it was awful.
If you are going to say that you have to take into account that 2 of the 8 games since he has left have been against Southend and Grimsby.

The windy conditions dictated the quality of that game, neither side played well, either side hardly played a decent weighted  ball, there didn't look an outstanding player on the pitch in either team and no one on Vale's team stood out, the conditions leveled everything.

It was a night for effort, for battling, for closing down and for keeping concentration and all Vale's players did that. One more point towards safety.

Positive more me is that vale look more solid and tighter at the back.

Wow that was truly abysmal.

Where do you start with that abomination. What on earth was up with the first touch of Montano ? Once is excusable but he did it about 5 times.

I'm lost for words, Blakeman and Birchall watched a completely different game from me.

Oh well 3 easy games now .

What an enormous summer ahead whichever league we are in .

Out

Brown ( moved to back up and keeper coach )

Crookes, Legge, Brisley, Mills, Fitzpatrick

Whitehead, Oyeleke

Pope, Guthrie, Cullen , Robinson

Undecided

Amoo, Burgess , Montano

12 released and 3 possible, bound to of forgotten some too

What a job for Flitcroft and Clarke

Ps Joyce add to my list
