and that would be adequate to compare to now with a new manager without his own players and no pre season.  Anyway here you go then.  You do know you're talking about the wrong season don't you?!

Not trying to compare the 2 but you only show the league results there, the same season Adams won against the 2 Sehffield clubs in August 2009.

first half both Gibbo and Monty were making wide runs but we never got the ball out to them. But your wing backs are only going to be effective going forward if we actually have the ball. If the central midfielders and forwards can’t do the simple things of getting it down, keeping possession and linking play then what can those wingbacks do?

Completely agree with this. The formation is not the issue, back 3 played well (Crookes especially, bar those couple of ridiculously overhit passes early 2nd half), and that should give us the required platform to leave Gibbo and Monty free to get forward, which they did early on. Unfortunately it's very reliant on the ball-playing midfielders and Rodney to do their bit, all of whom were sadly a bit out of sorts. Gibbo started well, couple of good runs early doors, but ran out of steam quite quickly.

Liked the look of Swan early on, their big CB Cuthbert looked scared to death of him, if the service had been better and we could have isolated him a bit more, I fancy things might have been a bit different, but again it comes down to the quality from midfield. I can't help but think I put the mockers on it by saying that with Woz out the centre of midfield was where our quality lay!

If Manny is fit for Saturday, I'd go for the same formation again, but with Guthrie for Rodney, Manny in for Joyce, and Burgess for Taylor (assuming Woz is still crocked; if not, Woz in for Taylor).

I thought we did look fit, professional and committed tonight. At the start of the season we did well in a string of games against the top half sides. Then we imploded when we started playing teams at the bottom. Let's hope that happens again. It might really need to if teams such as Barrow start winning consistently and the league closes up. I have this nightmare vision of Quiggley who nearly got us relegated scoring the goals for Barrow that do get us relegated. So jump to it lads, knuckle down and get the points by any means.

I thought Stevenage were above average for what I have seen this year. The defence did very well otherwise we would have lost; perhaps heavily. Yet the midfield and attack were ineffective. We managed 6 shots and a few scrambles. We looked like the away team. Swan has to play near Rodney, if Rodney is the target man! Not stand on the other side of the pitch in a sort of hopeful schoolboy way. But he wasn't without promise. Wind affected game, but to be fair we probably did pass it round quite well. The ingredients aren't right, but when remixing keep the defence.

Rodney shouldn't be the target man when we've got Guthrie.  For me Guthrie should've started with Rodney, or A.N. Other if Clarke wants to look at other players.  Cuthbert won't have an easier nights work.

Stevenage outplayed us for most of that game. God help us on Saturday! Tried to pack the defence by having 9 men in our own half and still couldn't get anywhere near them. Midfield was non existent. Looks like we are trying to 0-0 our way to safety.

Not Correct, the last 20 minutes we had a go , after being more solid than I have seen us all season against a side that have a very good away record.

There’s another team we’re playing against who had more of the ball than we did. If you’re just judging players in what they do going forwards then you’re not watching the whole picture or not realising what jobs they look like they’re being asked to do. The midfielders and forwards were the biggest issue from tonight and they hardly brought anyone in to the game. That’s where we lost the battle.

You are 100% correct our midfield three and front two let us down tonight.

Still believe and i am sure Monty would admit that his game, going forward tonight was not his best. I say poor, you say he concentrated on his defensive duties first. It still led to very little football being played by us.

A point is a point and i am fully behind D C and he has to do what he believes will get us enough points for safety this season. We are by no means safe this season yet. We need points. Perhaps i see that tonight was a game where three points was more possible to achieve than the next three games coming up.

Cant wait for this season to end and hopefully see a clear out of as many players as possible.
