Stopped shipping goals ! Yes we need to be better but not conceding is the first step. So I take a positive from this. Hopefully we can be a bit better going forward.

I thought Stevenage were above average for what I have seen this year. The defence did very well otherwise we would have lost; perhaps heavily. Yet the midfield and attack were ineffective. We managed 6 shots and a few scrambles. We looked like the away team. Swan has to play near Rodney, if Rodney is the target man! Not stand on the other side of the pitch in a sort of hopeful schoolboy way. But he wasn't without promise. Wind affected game, but to be fair we probably did pass it round quite well. The ingredients aren't right, but when remixing keep the defence.

Taylor and Conlon...Burgess...Hurst...are all young lads having far too much responsibility lumped on them, because of the poor performances of much-more experienced players...like Monty. That's most of our midfield not playing to their potential, so the forwards are getting nothing, either! I'm afraid we will have to suffer this until we reach safety and the pressure is off? An emotional cry to get rid of players - outside of a transfer window - is just a bit daft - we're all suffering!

Gibbons too was in opposition box.

Seems to be what most new managers try and do in our position, shut up shop. The harder part is then trying to play attacking , expansive football.

Weve played a lot worse teams than stevenage and leaked goals. Take the positives.

They are in the bottom 5 and in the 2 games against them we've made them look decent.

I think a lot of folks on here were expecting  a miracle-worker not a new manager.  The only building blocks are the squad he's inherited and in the short term he can only work with what he's got. The good news is that he has seemingly shored-up the defence and we have 2 extra points that could yet be crucial come season's end! We can only begin to judge the new director of football/manager set up once they've had a chance to shape the squad they want to reflect the style of play they're aiming for. In the meantime, we have to hope for sufficient points from the remaining games to ensure that the next season is in league 2 and not the National League.
