Referee apologises for squaring up to player.

I don't tend to moan at refs all the time especially at this level and they are human so make mistakes. Not like some who blame the ref for the result.

However when Darren Drysdale has reffed games against us he has been woeful. I don't tend to remember referees at our level but him and Trevor Kettle are definitely two numpties to remember.

I hope he gets punished like a player would.

He must hear it all, every week.  For him to react like that then it must have been pretty near the knuckle.

Agree the ref should be the one who keeps his head above all others but he's human, same as everyone else.

If we're outraged by this then we really have become a soft bunch.

Agreed - the ref is supposed to keep his cool, but how often must they want to nail a gobby little twonk effing off at them for not getting a free kick when they fell over?

He's apologised, and will be monitored carefully for no repeats, but if Judge was cheating and got booked for simulation, I think refs should be allowed to pull a wet fish out of their pockets and slap the offending player around the face for a minimum of 20 seconds in addition to a card, just to say "not only are you a scummy little cheat, but THIS is what I think of you"

I actually quite like Drysdale as a ref.  Not the usual card happy types we usually get at this level.  I don't know how refs keep their cool at times.

I heard Paul Lambert talking about this on the radio.  He reckons Judge didn't say anything to Drysdale and Drysdale should have a six months ban because that's what a player would have got!  When Di Canio pushed over Paul Allcock he got a 10(?) game ban and a fine so Lambert doesn't know what he's talking about. Judge was so badly injured by the ref that he didn't even jerk his head back which makes be think that no contact was actually made.  It was an aggressive gesture and should be punished but let's keep things in proportion.  Suspend him for three games - that's what a player would get for violent conduct.

Wouldn't that be great--Mony Python lives!

Let's get one thing clear. Ref's should not behave in this manner.

But by the same context players should not cheat, which is exactly what everyone of them on the field of play does at some stage during every game.

In my opinion the managers are the ones ultimately to blame, because by not publicly condemning the appalling actions of their players, they are by definition indeed condoning them.

But no, Lambert and many many others like him take the easy option of blaming the merry whistle blower.

And now all we are talking about is the ref's ill advised actions and not the continual cheating of players.
