Also quite a statement of intent from the club to go and get a manager that is employed. Just seen he got Bristol from national league to league 1.

I dare say if we'd have talked about bagging either Flitcroft or Clarke when Askey left, supporters would have been happy with either getting the manager's job.

To get BOTH is a massive statement of intent from the owners. Neither will have come cheap & Carol deserves enormous credit for backing and investing in the club, even more so under the current Covid situation.

Absolutely delighted with both appointments. I don't think we could have expected anything as impressive as this & I honestly thought we might be in for a rookie off the back of the DOF appointment. To poach Clarke from Walsall is a superb bit of business.

Young, hungry, speaks well, 4 promotions on his CV & a steady job at a Walsall side where he's had to oversee massive changes in player personal & some financial difficulties... he leaves them 4 points off a playoff place & nobody will need reminding they have turned us over twice this season, as well as being the only side to beat us at Vale Park last season!

Welcome Darrell! Carol... when can I buy next seasons season ticket!?

They are always going to be salty as vale fans would be if was other way around theyve always done a job on us recently. And also seems like walsall selling there best player probably was the nail in hos coffin and the reason he wanted to go

Seriously, a good appointment and a far better option than some of the names in the betting with no management behind them, like Morris (although Carsley did seem an interesting option - wonder if he was ever a candidate?)

Almost 500 games and 4 promotions under his belt, and still only 43.

Fantastic that Clarke can now get to work on assessing the squad in readiness for the changes required in the Summer (and he's already got a head-start in knowing how awful [...had to amend, due to swear filter! 🤣] some of our defence is, having seen his side put 7 past us in 2 games in the last 2 months!)

To get Flitcroft AND Clarke - the Shanahans continue to push the boat right out to improve us - showing, yet again, that in many ways we are the luckiest fans in the country, to have such fantastic owners, and particularly in the current financial climate.

Very happy with that appointment, I’ve always liked Clarke for some reason. Also, I think we were all expecting a manager with very little experience after the Flitcroft DOF appointment. 

Onwards and upwards now please Vale.
