this pitch of ours is now 70 years old. a lot of the injuries are down to the poor playing surface, drainage is poor .surely we should be looking at a local sponsor to dig it up and replace the turf and drainage (jcb???) return it to the bigger size and get two wingers bombing down the wings again. just a thought.

How much?  Luxury job like Swansea,   sand with plastic mesh,  pumped drainage and aeriation  for the roots.. Under-soil heating  ready for the Championship TV games?,   £1million ?

We have had this debate so many times before. I do not think we need underground heating so I would anticipate a cost c £750,000.00. We could get a it 50% funded by the  Football Stadia Improvement Fund, which would leave us finding £375,000. If the club borrowed this amount I would assume we could pay this over a 20 year period and with interest rates as low as they are at the moment, I would anticipate repayments of c£2250.00 a month. I am not sure if the grant would be available if we were in the Championship so would be worth giving the idea some thought. At these figures there is definitely a chance of getting a business to sponsor the payments.

Very good point. The pitch has been awful for years. Long overdue a decent pitch and simply put we should get the very best we can afford. I am frankly amazed at how well ground staff have done over the years.

It is heavy, clay like and needs completely replacing ASAP. Valiant 2001 promised this about 20 years ago with under soil heating etc and it never occurred.

The question is...can we...or should we be spending money on the pitch when we are in such a difficult time pandemic wise. If we had match day revenue maybe we could?

That’s exactly what we need. However as with anything...money.
