New squad list

It’s a real pity that we as fans are not allowed in the stadium to watch these poor excuses as professional footballers. They are getting away with their poor football poor attitude lack of team work.If fans were allowed in the players would feel the full force of the anger and frustration of the paying fans. There would be many fans just simply walking out of the stadium to go home or go the pub IF this were in normal time’s.There was an idea that they were not playing for Askey. But I honestly can’t believe players would actually do that.If they don’t like the club or the manager or what ever the best thing to do would play out of your skin and hope someone from a higher level comes in to buy you.But the way these players are they would be lucky if someone for a pub team came in for them. They should also be doing the same to try to impress any potential new manager. They are crap have a bad attitude zero self pride zero enthusiasm and no way should they carry the job title Professional Footballer. They are a disgrace to professional football.Frauds who are stealing a professional footballers wage and keeping another professional players out of work.

Both fair points. In that case I’d put him with the youth team. That way he can have access to some training, and he has less exposure to the first team meaning there’s less of a covid risk.
Are the youth team allowed to train at the moment? I thought it was elite sport only.

I'm a little confused about the squad situation.

I noticed Grimsby signed Giles Coke last week and Southend United have rolled the dice signing Nile Ranger and Ricky Holmes. All three players are free agents so I understand they are OK to sign but I understand you had to declare your squad and couldn't change to add to it after that point.

Can anyone clarify what the rules are on squad registration?

The Vale chose to fill their squad list with 22 players at the end of the transfer window.  We are stuck with those 22 players until the end of the season plus any aged 21 or under (e.g. Hurst).  We could have opted to not declare Robinson and leave an empty slot in the squad list.  Any empty slots can be filled by out of contract signing made during the rest of the season.  Once filled you cannot change that player.  Presumably Southend left 2 empty slots for Ranger and Holmes.

McKirdy is a weird one, looked decent in the Pizza cup but was awful at Stevenage and didn’t really do much in any league cameo.

That said hard to judge him when he didn’t get a run of games and starts to show what he could do.

Some will disagree maybe but same with Theo... sub app here, odd start there... never really gave either player 3 or 4 games in a row to get sharp and find form.

These are the EFL squad lists if anyone is interested:

Interesting that Guthrie isn't considered to be homegrown player, presumably because he came through the ranks at a club in Jersey. Also Fitzpatrick isn't considered homegrown either, was there some sort of technicality with his youth career at Stockport County?

Youth team have been in as normal and lost away at Carlisle in the week. There isnt much quality in the youth team currently, sadly.

Very true but everyone was crud vs Stevenage,  He's an odd one for sure. I just think he has more in him than some of ours, and if he is a bit of an odd ball, manage it. Minority opinion I know.

Feel a bit for Theo. Yes he has been rubbish but his attitude has been spot on from what I have seen.

Like Cullen he's useless up top on his own. But he would score goals in a 4-4-2 up top with Rodney. Guthrie is no better than him whatsoever, and a rather pointless signing.

Completely agree. I don't think these are bad players. But they can not do one up top. How often do our forward line scare the oppo?  And yet the oppo always seem to have a player that scares the pants off our defense?

Woody has done alright, But he is a poor man's Pope. Pope is the only player we have up front who actually bothers other teams.

And I know we can't rely on him any longer.

We are a powder puff team at this  moment. Very easily beaten.

Let us hope that gets sorted. I don't know how. Over to you Mr Clarke.

Dunno but both Fitzpatrick and Guthrie have played for England C so not sure why they'd be classed as foreigners. What is the significance of homegrown players? Can't imagine it matters with only two not being classed as homegrown.

It doesn't matter. I was just interested.

You have to name a minimum of 7 home grown players in any match day squad.
