The only thing that's peed me off over this, is it just comes across so lazy from Carol.
And no it isn't having a go at her, as no one can deny her love for the Club.
However it came across as though she only started looking for an external appointment after fans kicked off and now it's looks like she is only after an out of work manager.
IF that shortlist that was leaked yesterday is correct, then to not have Adams on it, is bizarre.
Personally I wouldn't be against Pugh, however it would be quite a back track from the Experianced, Succesful Manager she said she was after.

If you really believe that Carol suddenly went from no action to a shortlist in about a week just because 4 or 5 fans kicked off on a message board you have a strange understanding of the world! 🙂

There is actually a huge scientific study, that show sacking the manager doesn't help, at least if points are the problem. The team MAY experience a small surge in points immediately, but after a short 'honeymoon' period, the total points goes back to where they where. In fact, the studies showed, that teams that DIDN'T sack their manager, ended with in average 2.89 MORE point, than teams that sacked their manager. And those 2.89 point, could well and truly be the difference between relegation and staying up

Is that from Soccernomics? Great book!

I also like the one about blonde players being 20% overvalued because they stand out more (Tested the reverse in Sweden and dark haired players were 20% overvalued too)

Yes. He should be "gaffer"-taped to the manager's chair, and forced at gunpoint to make team selections and substitutions!

Sobbing, begging the fans to realise he doesn't want it, as they mutter 'deserves his chance', 'see how it goes', and pretend they can't hear him.

Poor Danny.

The "gentlemen prefer blondes" thing wasn't aimed solely at blond players, just those that have some sort of feature that makes them stand out.

I like to think of it as the Alexei Lalas theory.

I think that's also a statistics/math kinda thing. A team underperforms for a variety of reasons, or simply bad luck, and the manager is sacked. The team revert to the norm with the new manager, but they likely would have done so anyway.

The Rumanian national team who once all dyed their hair blond for the Euros and gave the commentators a hard time identifying them. Quality...

Whilst that study was correct within seasons, a change in manager can trigger certain underlying, long-term alterations in culture and recruitment that can improve prospects over a few years.

I'd agree if we were right in the relegation dogfight under Askey - better to stick with him. We weren't, and now we have an excellent opportunity to re-orientate the club to ensure we fight for the Top 7/3 in coming years.

Which is why, I wrote "if points are the problem". All the things you list, and probably more, can be more than valid reasons to sack a manager 😊
