Nothing personal against either, but Fitzpatrick and especially Mills have to be the first out of the door after Robinson and McKirdy along with Whitehead as soon as possible.

Mills and Fitz came on and their players seemed to ghost into the box unmarked?

@Phil B Phil, these comments come every week from a wide range of people. Sproson annoys the fans week in week out. Someone on RS needs to man up and admit on air why you let an incredibly biased

Just thought that Sproson comes across like a football dad who only wants to support his own kid during a game

Having someone on commentary who is the agent for some of the players makes the points completely biased and stupid

Think we need a back up left and right wing back that can play like gibbo and Monty. We are such a different side when we play with that kind of pace.  Poor side Southend but we were excellent. Happy with everything

An absloutely spot-on summary! With Gibbo and Monte at the back we look a different team. Just hope they've not picked up any serious injuries?

Mills is the definition of "Carthorse". I could run backwards and get to a ball before him.

Gibbo and Rodney make a massive difference.

And Monty. Was running things early doors. Cracking run and ball for the second.

Wrap all three in cotton wool and we can have a positive end to the season.

It’s night and day when the players are fit compared to the stand ins. It is the difference between winning and losing virtually every game which is so frustrating.

Was stupid from Sproson. Came across really weird. Can't stand him on commentary. Rodney was outstanding, again, and most of the commentary was devoted to analysing a misplaced through ball, and then annoyance at players not abusing Rodney for it. Strange man.

Maybe Crookes was on a clean sheet bonus and he gets commission.

When Jake Taylor gives the ball away neither commentator even mentions it...

Did notice when Crookes scuffed a clearance straight to a Southend player......no comment.

I don't think Mills played badly at all to be honest.

Not this afternoon. But on the whole he's been found somewhat wanting. Certainly isn't someone to count on for next season.

Crookes got a goal and didn't play poorly but he's still not an EFL standard centre half. Heading lacks direction and power. Not convinced with him at all.

Sproson won't mention that though, and that's why he shouldn't be commentating.

Huge win with a good 1st performance professionally seen out 2nd half.

Only disappointment goal conceded but to single out Rodney for it is wrong. Yes he made the wrong decision and gave the ball away but Mills has shown the player inside standing too far away from him(we have seen this form Mills all season) and Joyce has not closed the space down when he came inside. Its basic defending where we have given to much space to shoot.

Overall good display lots we should be positive about.

Rodney was unplayable 1st half.

Guthrie was excellent target man.

Taylor look more like himself.

Crookes looked composed at CB and could pass the ball out from the back

More minutes for Gibbo & Manny

Just hope injuries to Brisley and in particular Monty is not serious.

Completely correct.  We've been very unlucky to lose so many of our first choice players and the back ups are just that, players who should be playing infrequenly.  This, and key players losing form, is the biggest reason Askey lost his job.

Him, Conlon and an inform and confident Taylor in midfield would be top notch (sorry Joyce) in playing with a three. To think we've had to endure Joyce, Burgess and Whitehead at times.

I ll agree with you on Whitehead but Joyce is decent and Burgess can be used as cover and is still the right age to improve...

Taylor will grow as he becomes accustomed to being back at Vale. Conlon and Taylor are the bedrock for years if we can secure it.

Well done lads about time we were up for a game! Completely controlled the game  from start to finish. First time I could relax and enjoy the game for a while. Onward and upwards . Very happy bunny here!
