I was behind him in a builders merchants and heard him telling the bloke behind the counter that he still goes to Vale and sits in the away end, so that he doesn’t get any abuse. He also then went on to bad mouth our current regime who’d just taken over, saying that they weren’t all that they were making out they were.

Last time I saw Bratt was in the away end at the England v Italy women’s match 😀

Yeah I’d agree the 50k salary wasn’t at all greedy for what he was meant to be doing, but he steered the club towards increased decline. So, I’d say he was overpaid for failure.

You can always level that accusation at anyone in any industry that fails.  Unfortunately in some situations, particularly in the public sector, certain people seem to get good pay-offs even when they've failed--in the NHS there's also been many examples of these 'failures' being re-employed in different health authorities!

These days most owners are putting money into clubs, not taking it out.

There are three options:

1. Owners are happy to lose money (Stoke)

2. Owners are shrewd and run the club well and make money from it (Crewe)

3. Owners who make bad decisions and try and take money out of the club anyway (Newcastle)

Bratt was #3 even if he wasn't making millions from it.

He wasn't actually 'the owner'!

For someone qualified for the job I agree but not for a bloke who sold insurance. Also, the original V2001 directors agreed that none of them would benefit financially from the position at the club. Remember the salary reportedly included free medical insurance. A good deal for an amateur with no experience in the role.

Believe me I'm not trying to defend the bloke. But I can't remember that there was a long queue of people fighting to take on the V2001 job.

It was never advertised.  And there was already a well paid Secretary at the club.  Colin Garlick does both jobs.

Wonder if he would still be an MBE if word of his conversation at the JCB with some vale fans got out, where he was heard to say, trouble with you lot is you would sell to a p?ki.

Allegedly.

Similar sentiments were reportedly uttered by another director in a Werrington pub.

Can't disagree with that, and I never was trying to defend Bill Bratt. Thankfully the club has moved on since those dark days. Onwards & upwards. Up the Vale!

I saw him in Listers and had a rattle with him. He seems sad how it all ended up. I do actually believe he loves Vale even though he made such a balls up of it

He asked me to fit him some window's but i declined just in case he still uses nil paid shares instead of real money
