Accrington are on a bad run now and lost heavily against plymouth at home last weekend. Crewe are capable of beating any team on there day but they can lose to anyone aswell so I doubt they will make the play offs. I think we will get around 70pts which is normally enough but I doubt it will be this time.

I c no reason why we shouldnt be aiming for 3rd place.

There is a lot of six pointers plus the extra quality of Birchall Shuker and Marshall could give us that extra edge going forwards.

We can do this spread the word also Loft at right back he is terrific work wise in every position the cross v Bradford for Popeys winñer top notch.

Up the Vale

U can aim for 1st if u want but im talkin realistically.

I think the players attitude appears to have improved recently and, if continued, promotion can still be achieved. The off-field activities have certainly had an adverse effect on the players but with the new additions and, hopefully, a new refreshed boardroom, the future could look bright once again. Its going to be a hard slog but one that we can all pull together and achieve,as we've put up with some rubbish recently.Last night's PVSC meeting has given me a bit more optimism:upthevale:

I think that we're much better since Doug Loft went to full back. I think it shows just how important this position is and just how much we have suffered through patching up this position previously. Just because he is arguably our best player does not mean he should play centre midfield. He has excellent crossing ability, can read the game, can tackle, and he is fit enough to carry out his attacking and defensive duties.

I think the whole team looks more solid at the moment and conceding 2 goals in 4 games reflects that. The jury is still out on Morsy but he's holding his own. Rigg looks good on the left, and with Birchall on the right there won't be any team in this league I wouldn't fancy us beating. One thing however, our centre backs Mccombe and Owen have been terrible, they're too slow and get caught out too easily. Clayton Mcdonald has been far better than either of them. Personally I'd release both Owen and Mccombe at the end of the season, they're slow, flat footed, can not pass, show no composure on the ball... they're dreadful.

Yeah I agree, that is our problem area, Mcdonald has been much better as of late though, we will be a much stronger side with Birchall in it.

The last thing we want is promotion under these circumstances.

Safety and admin please.

You certainly aren't including me in that "WE". I am a Port Vale fan and want nothing more than promotion for the team.

I think you will find you are in a very small minority of "fans" who don't want promotion.

You seem to have confused PVFC the business with PVFC the team and lost all sight of the main goals.

Up the Vale

I really applaud the optimism of going for third place, but too many teams are chasing it - Crawley, Swindon and Shrewsbury for me are the likely candidates for the top 3.

However, 7th or even 6th is definately acheivable - as the argument about a lot of teams chasing one playoff place works in reverse too, as at least one of the teams in the top 6 who look clear will have a bad run.

Football is so unpredictable that it is quite possible that Oxford AND Vale can make the top 7, with maybe Torquay dropping like a stone, or even Southend whose home form other than against us has not been great lately.

All Vale can do is aim for a decent points total of 72 or 73 and hope that is enough. The next 5 games could and should yield at least 11 points, if we get 12 or 13 then its playoff place looming.

Last season someone posted that they wanted 14 points from the next 5 Vale games that were scheduled at the time - bit tricky that one, 4 wins and a .... ermmmm?

Agree with most of that i prefer loft at full back he adds pace at the back to cover for our slow centre backs! He adds drive down the flanks and also great delivery which we dont get with collins and especially yates! Id keep him there as we have options now in centre mid!

Agreed. MarkB2 is totally deluded and does the change movement no good whatsoever, because he alienates them from the ordinary Port Vale fans who first and foremost want to watch football, Port Vale to win games and to get promoted.

He is just a keyboard warrior who writes doom and gloom and maintains an air of superiority over everyone else.

Well we'll have a great day at Northampton supporting Micky's playoff push, he can stay at home and watch porn.
