Tom will be missed and it’s probably the last time he’ll play a competitive game for his beloved Port Vale. Thank you for what you’ve done for us especially season 18/19. Indebted forever

That's my fear too.Gutted at the moment,as I love Pope.He will go down as one of the greatest players that Ive seen, wearing a Vale shirt, in over 60 years watching Vale.Bloody Tin Pot Cup has robbed us of a very important player.

Hope that Tom recovers from this injury. Being a local lad, his skill and endeavours to get into league football since his Knypersley Vics days, he will be missed.

His service with the Vale can’t be in question. He should look back on his career with fondness.

Feed the Pope and he will score

Did he say he was seeing the specialist today to see whether or not he needed an operation or maybe just a bit of whitewash, a sling and a rest?

It depends on the nature of both injuries. Some broken bones are simple to reset and heal fast, others can be more awkward and take a lot longer.

Ligaments the same. If it's bad it might mean surgery and several months, in which case he'll miss the season. If it's minor it should get better on its own in a couple of weeks.

Fingers crossed for him.

Does Guthrie's signing mean he might be out for a while or was it planned before Pope got injured?

Wouldnt be surprised if we dont see Pope again in a Vale shirt.Hope i am wrong. Hope he is playing again by March.

Cannot see an agreement being made to keep him next season

Presumably even if he is fit by March he won't be registered as part of the squad.

I think the latter, Sage.  I doubt it could have been all sorted in a couple of days.

gutted for pope fingers crossed the club give him a new 2 year contract hes still got goals in him why would you let him leave

That would be a really bad decision by the club. If he gets an extension a year would be the max
