Assume those moaning we are not still in the Papa John's Trophy will be bemoaning we didn't play our first eleven.

Yes. I wanted us to play our first team tonight and look like we were attempting to win. Club needs a lift, money would have been good, and we could have given a mid-table League 1 side's reserves a fair crack. I've sat through every game this season and we've lost far too many in such limp, insipid fashion.

Pressure is on for FGR, now. We've effectively thrown tonight to keep the players fresh for Saturday. Hope it pays off.

Just checked and it's a 6pm kick off this one. So don't get caught out.

Lightweight.

Seriously does anyone truly believe that Pugh will play that same 11 away from home again in the league? Not a chance on this earth will he. Seems like some are just using that side as an excuse

Plenty of effort

Far better once Jake Taylor came on

Cullen looked sharp

Hope Hurst is fit for Saturday.

Defended well particularly second half

Shame nobody got to Montano's great cross shot.

Bidder can't kick a ball

Should we get a positive result at FGR will be moaning why didn't we play like that at Sunderland.

Pleased we’re out of this joke of a tournament, pity we didn’t put as much effort into trying to stay in the fa cup or EFL cup.

Enough of that, yes we’ve played more games but we’re only 6points off a play off position.

Legge, Mills, Amoo, Hurst, Monty, Smith, Conlon and Burgess played the majority of this game. All of them have been first team players for the majority of this season.

I think there are obvious improvements to this team that can be made, Taylor and Oyeleke/Joyce with Conlon for example. But for you to say that you saw massive amounts of effort and our team being made up of reserves is baffling.

We might as well not have bothered to show up than play like that. How does anyone expect to win a game when you dont attack?
There is just no sense to it. We need a massive clear out on the pitch and off it. Its time to bin the losers.

Talking about bins I thought the bins did quite well only lose 2.0 we hit our own bar/post twice. We had 8 players plus the keeper in our box on one occasion and they were still keeping possession. 5 of our weren't marking anybody. We need a strong manager not a mate in charge.

Does anyone think that a time will come when we can watch one of our centre halves pass a forward ball to a team mate?

Yes.

Dig out one of your old black and white videos from the nineties and watch Dean Glover!!

Seems like some are just using that side as an excuse for the anti-Pugh agenda.

No point in giving him a chance this season , might as well get rid of him now . Every sub , performance , formation will be heavily criticised just because he’s not the people’s choice

Will take more than an experienced manager to get something out of some of those players .

Can play all the formations and motivate all you want . If they aren’t good enough .. well .. they aren’t good enough simple as that

Looked better when Cullen and Taylor were on the pitch

Over reaction on here to get rid of Pugh .

I don't think people equating being disappointed with tonight's performance with wanting Pugh out is fair. That's certainly not what I'm saying.

He deserves to be looked at over 4/5 league games. However, if we are still turning in performances like this then why would we wait till summer to change the manager? We did well against Grimsby but the we're an absolute shower.

Cant get to worked up about that result. I didnt watch it, but we played a weakened side and got what I expected.

Going from your previous posts Walter, you'd have been fuming if you'd watched this.

When we got Micky Adams in the whole club had a winning mentality and we were up there challenging and, second time, completed the job of promotion.

The managers job is THE most important in a football club.

DP should have fielded a stronger side than that tonight.

Do you really think that he's up to the job? Seriously? What good has happened since this loser has been involved at the Vale?

50% win rate.

Joe,

Honestly thought that once Taylor and Cullen came on in particular, we were going to get to penalty kicks.

Unfortunately we didn't get onto Montano's cross shot although we had enough players in the box.

When we had got into the game Visser killed the momentum by putting a number of clearances aimed for Montano straight into touch, and then rounded it off by failing to reach the halfway line and conceding a penalty as they took advantage.

Thought Cullen showed why we should keep him and Robinson why we should get rid.

If Taylor and Cullen play on Saturday I would play with two up front and pressure FGR.

Would be interested to know just how 'inexperienced' that Sunderland side were. Seemed like some real quality there.

Keep the faith.

Roll on Saturday.
