Match Thread: FLT R3 Sunderland v Port Vale

Recommended Posts

That was diabolical. I can handle losing, but for us to not even try is criminal. We didn’t even have one shot on target for the whole game. Tactics far far too negative. I was open to Pugh getting the job but that’s turned me right off, I’ve had enough of super negative tactics like this away from home. Got us nowhere under Brown or Aspin. Get a proper manager in.

Worst £10 I’ve ever spent. I’d have had more enjoyment putting a tenner through a shredder.

Just checked and it's a 6pm kick off this one. So don't get caught out.

Lightweight.

Seriously does anyone truly believe that Pugh will play that same 11 away from home again in the league? Not a chance on this earth will he. Seems like some are just using that side as an excuse

That was terrible. Yes it’s Sunderland and yes they are 20 times bigger than us but they are ONE league above us. We played like we were a non league team away at Man City.

I’m not bothered that we lost, I didn’t expect us to win. However, I do expect a little bit of fight, a bit of quality where possible and an ambition of scoring a goal.

I just hope that this a lesson for Pugh. We can’t set up like that away from home for the rest of the season.

The biggest issue for me is:

Step 1) Seeing the line up and expecting that we were effectively forfeiting the game

Step 2) Still being daft enough to pay £10 and watch us effectively forfeit the game

Step 3) Seeing the set up not attempting to do much more than forfeit the game without humiliation

Waste of everyone's time, that. We might as well have said the coach had broken down and taken the 3-0 loss. Save the petrol.

Seems like some are just using that side as an excuse for the anti-Pugh agenda.

The sad thing is, the league has gone. The season is pretty much dead. We'll finish mid table, I predict between 12th and 18th. (hopefully no lower). We need to build for next season now.

At least Taylor is a good start in that respect.

Are people not sick and tired of losing games in such uninspiring fashion? 14th loss in 31 (I think), this season. I've had enough.

Do you really think that he's up to the job? Seriously? What good has happened since this loser has been involved at the Vale?

19 years of losing is taking its toll, Jean. I'll be looking like my Dad soon, at this rate.

Plenty of effort

Far better once Jake Taylor came on

Cullen looked sharp

Hope Hurst is fit for Saturday.

Defended well particularly second half

Shame nobody got to Montano's great cross shot.

Bidder can't kick a ball

Assume those moaning we are not still in the Papa John's Trophy will be bemoaning we didn't play our first eleven.

Should we get a positive result at FGR will be moaning why didn't we play like that at Sunderland.

We might as well not have bothered to show up than play like that. How does anyone expect to win a game when you dont attack?

There is just no sense to it. We need a massive clear out on the pitch and off it. Its time to bin the losers.

Bit of a strange comment. Strange in the sense of 'agenda' is a bit strong.

After what we've had to put up with over the years, what is so radical about wanting an experienced outside manager for once rather than the cheap option?

I wouldn't call that an agenda. I'd call it exasperated weariness.

Id quite happily release the lot of them. Even those that are supposedly trying just for being spineless and letting it go on.

Never prayed for a season to end sooner.
