I was having a nosey on the Barnsley forum and saw a few comments but I've seen an article in the mean time where he states he'd be willing to be a head coach again... But he's in no rush. So only time will tell I guess.

My trouble with appointing Pugh would be that it is the sort of thing Smurfwaite would do. A cheapie option that we can all see not working a mile off.

He's looking after the team whilst Carol makes a decision.

If he doesn't get the job, it's nothing to do with the 'rabble demanding his head'. He's very lucky to be given this opportunity to manage the side he's applying to be manager of, which no other applicant will enjoy.

Vale fans, man. Make stuff up to be annoyed by. 'They'll hound the interim out, the blimin' moaners!'.

Also - I agree the squad needs strengthening. Askey's exceptional recruitment record would have come in handy. How we should have waited!

But Smurthwaite isn't here any more, he's gone. The Club is under new management, already recognised as first rate management. So give the Shanahans a bit of credit and trust them to make the right choice for the club and the community it serves.

Also Coleman and Bell are a good fit with Stanley they tried at Rochdale and failed, it's funny how certain managers find success move on and struggle.

Port Vale simply need to bring in a manager without out any previous affiliation to the club, who can come in and assess each player without preference, but only on ability, commitment and value i.e offload sick notes and egoistic trouble makers, who once their careers are over will have to get jobs in the real world. Ps good luck with that one fella’s !!! as I’m sure future employers will rumble you and fook you off before you know it !!!!!!
