The sad thing is no matter who the new manager is OVF will need a new thread for the " Footballing experts " to vent their anger/ disappointment/disgust and lack of ambition.

How many times...in fact, for how many years?...have people been saying this is what the Vale need? Produce the good players from our Academy / Development squad, sell them on for good money, strengthen the squad and keep progressing as a club. The Crwho "way", as some have called it. Now, when it seems we may be putting this infrastructure in place...it's not the way to go?

Lancy, I’m not saying about developing our own, even though we’ve only brought Gibbo and a Smith through which means in that time at least perhaps 25 times as many have been released. The first team manager will not be dealing with youth that will be DF’s role and whoever is in charge of the youth team. The youth team does not seem to have that much success, so we’ll probably have to bring in another person.

My comments were because I’ve interpreted it that Carsley with his contacts will bring in players from EPL clubs to develop them. If I have this wrong then I retract my post. I just don’t want us to be a development club. I want our own players that represent our City and fans.The country is full of little clubs like ourselves who give different towns their individual identity. This would disappear if teams become feeder clubs and it’s letting the Spanish model in through the back door

He is pretty bald, clearly the club should be going for Jurgen Klopp. Far more successful at finding a barbers and tactically far more astute with a comb. Pep has been a follicle failure at every club he's managed IMO. Shows Shanahan's complete lack of understanding of modern fashion.  My god who is running this club! I won't be renewing my season ticket if that's the standard of hair cut we are after. At least we have a Director of Football who knows his way around a bottle of shampoo.

Having a manager that specialises in bringing young players through is all well and good, but at the moment we need someone to sort the first team out or we could be out of the league.

I'd agree with the previous comments on here, I'd be very happy with Carsley. My only concern is the move from working with elite level youngsters to work with Danny Whitehead. Hopefully he can get a tune out of our useless team till the end of the season then begin to mould a good young team from there.

I would have preferred us to pay for one decent manager than two half manager/coaches/DOF.

Pair of egotists if you ask me. Vale would be a good challenge. They have done well,  but the idea they are being picky waiting for championship clubs smacks to me of managers who don’t really want a job, but a vanity project for themselves.
