Like people are going mad that a manager hasnt been announced yet but aslong as its within the next month whats the problem?? Are people expecting a new manager come in and zack mills to start playing like roberto carlos. Our squad is not good enough a new manager is not going to change that. Aslong as he has time to see what players he wants to keep next season i dont see the major rush in needing one appointed.

They can at least adopt decent tactics and team selections.

Re mills. I’d love a new manager just to drop that clown

Having listened to the bloke, I agree.

This COULD work, that's for sure.

A solid looking managerial appointment and I think we'll have some real direction.

Fingers crossed for that.

Nothing is certain but it is a plan not a knee jerk decision. He comes in as a trouble shooter to steady the ship which could come too close to the rocks for comfort. Firstly some  league points, discuss with Pugh better use of  existing  players, at the same time assessing Pugh as a future manager worth mentoring.  Assess quality of coaches. Check managerial applications and arrange interviews. March assess players, identify squad shortages with new manager.

WTF is this? Don’t they know we are port vale. We like managers who write their team selection on the back of a fag packet and play 4-4-2!
Why would a club that has been a mess for a decade need someone to oversea the football Side of the club and possibly have an ethos that we employ into instead of starting from scratch every two years. Madness.

Sheer madness.....😀

Different tactics doesnt change the quality Of our players . Crookes mills fitz will still not be able defend whatever formation they are in

This isn’t a quick fix for this season though, this is a long term plan with some thought behind it. A strategy for the club is something we haven’t had in place for a long time (if ever). It’s not something to just dismiss within 5 mins of the announcement.

Also worth noting the talk that we couldn’t afford must have been rumours. If you listen he had a 2 hour interview, they ended up talking for 5 hours and the issue was he saw the set up wasn’t right and so felt it was a DOF job needed and offered to do that.

Maybe we can afford to invest?

Bang on. This is building the infrastructure needed for the club to progress.

Sounds great that we have a longer term plan, let’s see where it goes! We were all spitting when we thought we’d missed out on Flitcroft because we supposedly ‘couldn’t afford him’

He’s now got a key role at the club and some are spitting feathers.... can never win.

I like the ambition of the talk track about being a Championship club.

Interesting appointment.  DF speaks a huge amount of sense on the interview. Who's to say that he doesn't streamline things and has a big clear-out if necessary? One thing's for certain, it will be unwise to expect overnight improvement until systemic rot has been addressed. Listening to that interview, one of the best things he says for me is about proactive and reactive appointments and signings and how a lot of business has been reactive, crisis management. One can expect several ups and downs in the next few months by the sound of things. Looks like a chap who won't suffer fools either so maybe he won't be averse to taking tough but necessary decsisions. As he says, the manager appointment is going to be key,so reading between the lines, it suggests that they might have to wait to get who they want.
