How have you come to the conclusion it won't be Pugh? Go back a week or so and plenty of numtpies here were insisting he was a brilliant candidate for the job after we beat two of the worst sides you'll ever see play professional football. Another result and these same numpties will be spouting the same crap again.

Because I’ve listened to the interview and it clearly says it won’t be Pugh and there now looking for a new manager

Check out wiki.  He's run the family business with his brother and father for 15 years and has his own football academy.  He's not been "just" a player and manager.

In view of the amount of criticism our recruitment policy has been in recent years I'm pleased to hear him say it needs a total overhaul - that's what folk have been asking for.

Also, folk on here have been criticising Colin Garlick for not doing his job properly when running the football side of the business (wrongly in my opinion) and now they are criticising the club for appointing someone to do exactly that job.

Yes, we were all expecting a manager today so this has come as a surprise but you can see there is a degree of long term planning here which is something that has been lacking at the club for ages.

I hope it works out.

Having listened to the bloke, I agree.

This COULD work, that's for sure.

A solid looking managerial appointment and I think we'll have some real direction.

Fingers crossed for that.

I’d imagine the reason why Carol is a millionaire and you and I aren’t is because she has vision and learns from her mistakes

She can probably see that she has failed this year, but is putting a plan in place to improve next year.

A rushed appointment of a coach just to get rid of Pugh and gain a few wins , which only improves confidence amongst some players who will mostly be leaving , won’t be particularly helpful

I’d rather finish 2 off bottom this year if it means playoffs next year with the correct appointment.

We finished Last season with wins and momentum.. it means nothing

It doesn't guarantee anything but I wouldn't say it means nothing. Everyone here, even myself, was optimistic before a ball was kicked this season, and also a few games into it. If we stay up by a few points I can't see too many people buying season tickets, as I did myself, next season despite how much the club tries to spin things.

Ive been waiting for the announcement all morng, so my initial reaction is disappointment. Cant see why this extra money couldnt secure a quality manager, but time will tell. I hope it doesnt mean Pugh will continue, but I suspect it does

Carol and Kevin are millionaires because as business people they fundamentally have a good product.

Vale isn’t a good product and won’t make anyone rich...unless you’re Norman Smurfwaite...

If it's not then fair enough. He should never have been talked about as a candidate in the first place. Not in regards to a club that has got it wrong on the pitch so many times in recent years.

Rather worrying. As if a local newspaper journalist should be having such a role.

I thought he was one of the Directors now?

Why yes, but his expertise is in local newspaper journalism, not advocating who the fans want as a manager.

That optimism was soon gone ! I guess time will tell ! I’m a little on the fence as I think someone like Micky Adam’s when here did both roles of coach and DOF , you just need to pay the money.

But the decision has been made and hopefully we can stop trying to come up with the football plan and big Dave can sort it out

Go arrrrrn Dave !
