Beg , borrow or steal to get the Cowley brothers. It would be the best bit of business that Carol has conducted in many years. Push the boat out, Carol.

There is no way on this earth we could afford those two plus improve the ageing squad.

Thinking about when Jim Lloyd and the board sacked John McGrath, Rudgey took over and he struggled for ages to get his first win and even then we got relegated yet the following season there was an improvement and the rest as they say is history, he would have been slaughtered on here and yet he gave us the most successful period in our history.

I don't envy Carols job does she go for experience, someone who's done the job before and had success and failure in equal measure or does she go down the young relatively inexperienced route, but has the potential to succeed, similar to when Gordon Lee was appointed it was between him and Arthur Turner who at the time was at Oxford United, Arthur Mac wanted a track suit manager and once again appointing Lee as they say was is history.

My thoughts on what Carol should do.............................................No idea !

It’s a tough one and we won’t know if it’s the right one until their Vale career pans out.

Let’s remember one of the best reputations of managers we’ve probably hired aside from Adams was his first replacement... a certain Jim Gannon! Think most were happy with it and seemed great fit.

Look how that panned out.

Whatever decision Port Vale take,it won't be long before they are slaughtered on here and social media.🤔🤔🤔🤔

thats only been happening because the managers have been so p155 poor. making the same mistakes over and over again. if the owners bring in yet another manager with little or no experience then its going to happen all over again.

I would love the Cowleys, but I think there is Bob hope they would come here. They surely are set for a Championship/top end League 1 job.

I would imagine that they are the perfect type of manager that Carol would like too. Colin Garlick mentioned not having a specific type in mind, and I think that is right, but surely they will be looking for someone to come in to build a project, not just a quick fix for 12-18 months. The contract for Rodney is an example of that longer term thinking/planning that has gone on, so you would imagine that would be at the forefront of the minds of those making the decision.

Not sure who that should make the ideal candidate if I'm honest. I tend to think that a League 2 manager doesn't necessarily need to be an amazing technical coach, so much as a good man manager, tactician, and game manager.

But if they bring in an experienced manager that might happen too. Clean slate for whoever comes in. Past results are no guide to future performance...
