Match Thread: Bradford City v Port Vale

What an absolute snooze fest, nothing going forward whatsoever, we didn’t even look interested in attacking them

Smith did well at right back far far better than mills
Him and Fitzpatrick are 2 very weak links and poor players neither of them will get you promoted

Rodney had a poor game but was so isolated it was untrue

All in all nothings changed regarding my opinion of Askey and won’t it won’t I’m afraid , like Santa said in the other thread he’s reached the point of no return

I’ve got no confidence in him making the signings we need to turn it around either

Rot stopped.

Two awful, awful football sides. Both seemed pleased with a point. The most pleasing thing from tonight was finally getting a clean sheet, but I think a Sunday league side would have managed that against their attack.

Burgess and Whitehead were truly dreadful. How many times did Burgess give the ball away? Did Whitehead even touch the ball?

Pleased with Hurst, yet again. The only bright spark amongst that dross.

The most entertaining thing from tonight was listening to BBC Bradford on the dodgy stick. Two commentators getting excited over Bradford. “The midfield play is so pleasing on the eye,” one said. “The intricate passing and attacking play is brilliant,” the other said. I think these pair had been sniffing something rather strong. But, each to their own. Awful - would be a great way to sum up them pair.

Nevertheless, my stance hasn’t changed. Askey is taking us no where. He will get January to bring another load of hopefuls, who won’t improve the starting XI.

Unfortunately, John isn’t going anywhere.

1 win in 12.

6 points from 33 available.

Relegation form.

Askey out!

Good news is we can roll out platitudes to dress up pure dross such as:

- Back to basics

- Stop the rot

- Things to build on

- Will take a point!

- Plenty of positives

- Solid

Any others? Say Want. Need. Expect every time you read one.

Isn't it?

Wasn't it?

Bulldog rearguard action

Dunkirk Spirit

Kids in the park

Jumpers for goalposts

Marvellous

Nobody who saw the state of that pitch can honestly say they expected to see anything other than a game littered with errors, it was obviously frozen solid.  They only thing we can say is that we were worth a point and that's with a scratch team.

We desperately need our missing players back as soon as possible, plus lose/add a couple this window, whether or not we stick with JA.

Harrogate was abandoned due to a frozen pitch

I starting nodding off and confess I put the Man-Ure game on mid-way in but hey it’s still a point.

The players tried hard and Askey did try to do something different.

Still truly boring and as poor as anything we have done recently however. The one crumb of comfort is we were as bad as Bradford, despite their squad costing rather more.

Went for a point, got a point. Defensively much sounder but Bradford weren't very good and any half decent side would have come away from a win. Been calling for Smith to play right back fo a while and he was much better positionally than Mills who's supposedly a specialist right back. Legge and Brisley were helped by Novak being as slow as they are. Going forward we didn't offer much but the penalty shout was a definite. The ball didn't deviate from its path. Oh and Whitehead is still hopeless.
