Match Thread: Port Vale v Barrow

There's been talks of discontent but that's common in a losing run.
The team were in good form then we had a few bad results. Askey tried changing things, those he brought in didn't perform. He changed things back to how they were, they still didn't really do much better. By then confidence was gone across the squad. Now it looks like either the players have lost faith in the management, the management have lost faith in the players or perhaps both statements are true.
The cheapest change is of the manager not of the entire squad. Once the manager has lost the squad, the manager has to go. Even Ranieri had to go at Leicester.

Possibly the most inept performance of a bad season and Askey only makes 2 substitutions....what the ********* hell is that all about?

Just show's what he actually thinks of the subs.  None of them are worth trying to change the game around or he does not know what to do to change the way the match is going.

It’s as plain as day that with key players missing (or hardly featuring) like Conlon, Manny, Gibbo, Monty, Worrall and Amoo means we have no energy, drive or desire even. Their replacements just haven’t been as good and as a result we’re suffering. That just shows that we didn’t have the strength in depth that we thought we had IMO.  Throw in players like Smith, Legge, Joyce and Pope not being as effective or making mistakes and it’s no wonder we’re in a mess.

Would be amazed if Askey resigns because that would show character, something he seems to lack.

He won't resign because :-

1. He likes the job (why wouldn't he.....its just up the road)

2. He won't walk away from any pay-off (even if its only 6 month's worth)

3. He's never going to get another manager's job in the Football League

4. He's not subjected to the pressure he'd be under in 'normal' circumstances - either from an irate crowd, or from a trigger-fingered boardroom.

Well that was awful. Brown, Mills, Joyce, Whitehead and pope all a waste of a wage at the moment. All should be released at the end of their contracts. Fitzpatrick not far behind. The way we're going now, I'd stick with rodney in the middle to bring him on. Same with Hurst. Amoo to play whenever fit. Aside from those 3, I wouldn't be fussed if the others never played for us again.

cant really fault that. our squad is far too old and needs refreshing. but the buck stops with the manager. you live and die by your results and as is clear to see. its time to go.

They were much quicker than us had far more energy and we deserved nothing from the game. How these players and the management can take up there wages is a joke. In any other business they would have been given there marching orders weeks ago. I don’t know what the answer is but I cannot take these sloppy and half hearted performances.
