Match Thread: Port Vale v Barrow

Fosse69

Recommended Posts

Welcome to a Barrow celebrating a 3-0 win over Cheltenham after 5 league defeats. Caretaker manager Rob Kelly`s first win and could have been by more. First Football League win in front of home fans since 1972. Surely a warning if any were needed that changes to our defence are essential. Rest of the team can do the business, just need to score more goals than usual. Let us hope that a muted Xmas lasts more than one day.

Visser

Clark Smith Brisley Montano

Manny Worrall Conlon

Rodney Pope Hurst ( Amoo )

Obviously all down to fitness of certain players. Because we really only have one back up CH other than Crookes I've reluctantly only changed 4 of the back 5 .

No time for sentiment Christmas or not. Wholesale change needed including dropping stalwarts of the club.

Feel that Hurst has done okay but it's a no brainer a fit Amoo

As far as I'm aware Clark hasn't actually gone back yet so he plays

For me, wholesale changes needed. The spine of the team needs ripping out and others need to shape up or ship out.

Visser

Smith-Brisley-Crookes-Fitz

Manny-Whitehead-Conlon

Amoo-Rodney-Hurst

This assumes Monty isn’t fit, otherwise he goes in at LB.

Their form is as bad as ours so I’ll go for a 0-0 or 1-0 for one of two hopeless sides.

A few weeks ago this would have been a routine win. But we are on the slide, and Barrow have picked up since changing their manager, so its not a foregone conclusion anymore.

I would be giving Visser a run out and resting Brown, and I think Legge cant possibly play as often as he has been, so bring Brisley in.

Oyeleke for Burgess to make us a bit more solid, and a lot more creative to give us a chance.

You can bank on either Quigley or Angus scoring so we might need to score a few ourselves. Rodney to start again please.

For what its worth we all know changes will be made for this one,i am predicting a 4-1 win(feel free to return to this post 🙂 ),yes it will keep Askey in a job but so what i want Vale to win every game they play no matter what.

I will add though lose this one and i do think Askey will be gone,a massive game for him this.

Yes. Brisley in the middle for me, with Smith and Crookes either side to track runners.

We have the personnel for 352 ready to go, but I think Clark is as good as gone. I wish we had another right back fit as Mills is just not very good.

Visser deserves a crack. Played well in every game he's featured. Brown has been below average for a number of weeks now. Brisley rarely puts a foot wrong. Crooks is either good enough or not; this halfway house nonsense needs to end. Either get him playing or ship him off to Altrincham.

Joyce must be on a last chance (if there was anyone capable of playing defensive midfielder I'd drop him). He picks up a daft booking every week, on the back of that stupid red which cost us against Tranmere.

However, we'll play 433 again.

I'm glad we're into 6/7 change territory though. Always good fun. ValefaninAlsager/breadwinner is finally justified in times like this. A 3412 with inverted wingbacks and Fitzpatrick as Raumdeuter? Sound, can't be any worse.

Always the sign of a finished manager.

Usually it spells there is only 1-2 weeks left of whatever torture we're being subject, but in this case it's just the 5 months and another season of our lives.

Oh dear, Quigley and Angus.  The inevitable just got twice as likely. 🤔

Despite Legge being the one who was IMO responsible for 3 of the goals yesterday I think Smiths substitution could see him being made the scapegoat. But then again Mills was so bad how can he keep his place? there are different options he could go with IF key players are fit like manny and Monty.
