Terrific signing. Just what we want.Young striker with pace. Looks good in the air. Scores goals with both feet. Been around a couple of seasons, so knows what to expect. To me there is more optim

Joe, I thought that Jake gave us energy that I struggle to remember anyone else doing for sometime. He also motivated Burgess who now looks lost. Together they formed a partnership that  allowed Joyce

The Pope question will need to be answered sooner or later.   with the salary cap (he will count as the average salary not what he is actually earning) then we may struggle to improve on him, but if

Cannot understand the Sproson bashing on this site. He was a tremendous servant to our club. Ok he may bull up his own portfolio of players. But surely we have obtained decent players in the past because of his involvement, and like a number of retired Vale players he gets criticised for his commentating on RS.

Jake Taylor. We wanted him at the beginning of the season and Forest wanted him to leave. So he signs for Scunthorpe. 6 months later he signs for us. He obviously wanted to come to us because he has now signed for 3 years. So it was obviously not his idea to go to Scunthorpe. Vale have signed him so it obviously wasn't in our interest for him not to sign at the beginning of the season. Who else is involved?

Wouldn’t have a clue, and neither do you, it’s smoke n mirrors. He is with us now so let’s just get on with it.

As I remember it he was given a deadline, did not meet it, and we signed someone else.  As you say water under Trent Bridge.

We signed our fair share of baffling non league names, particularly under Aspin. Difference is, ours were poorly scouted crap....with the exception of Manny.

Hannant was decent too, now doing well at Cambridge.

Forest were considering him for the first team but then signed a player so he wasn't available until a week before the season started so I think it was just bad timing rather than anything else

Forest fans not happy about Swan dropping down to league 2, so that can only be a good thing for us.

It tells you something about our reputation in the game that we have managed to pull this off.  Would never have happened under our previous owner.

I see Tranmere have signed David Nugent on loan just in time for Saturday

Very interesting one that. Also Marcus Maddison signing for Bolton.

Probably not if Jake Taylor wasn't either.

Apologies if this point has been made elsewhere, but didn't we only sign Whitehead because we couldn't get Jake over the summer? Now Jake is here, that makes Whitehead superfluous, plus he's injured as well as having been generally disappointing, so why is he still taking a place in the 22?

Since it looks like Theo is staying, whatever we might think of his performance thus far, the fact is that the manager who coached/coaxed him into double figures last year is second favourite (just 6/4 now) to be our next manager, so should we not be changing our squad selection right now? Just in terms of probability as to who is more likely to be of use in the next four months?

I wonder if that's the reason why the 2 new lads are under the age cap? Any new manager would have the whole squad at his disposal and could decide whether to release/ pay up after he's had chance to assess them.

Still paying Robinson McKirdy Cullen Legge and unfortunatly the injured Pope....Some money there that would pay a bill or two.

I wonder if We have tried to negotiate with Legge to remove the rumoured clause in his contract that if he plays again it triggers an extension.

I don’t even know if that’s true, but if it is it would be something to lob him a small amount of cash to remove it and have him as another backup rather than pay him to do nothing.
