January transfer window

Slightly off-topic but Stoke are having a great window.

One of the best defensive sides in the EFL who struggle to score; they've added Matondo, Clarke, and Norrington-Davies, all young and with quality.

Irritating, to say the least.

Read the comments about Crewe players and what they may sell for. Sad state of affairs comparing the two sides when you consider who could we sell .

It's what they do and so far 80 former youth players have made it into the first team.It doesn't happen overnight though.

Any one of those going for £600/£700k ? Don't think so. But hey that's just my opinion. Reality however  is that clubs have come in with offers for Crewe players, none for ours.

Well they are now in a division higher. But the reality is they are the saleable assets that we have, (despite our fans not being shy to run our own players down). Not that it matters much, I couldn’t give a toss what Crewe do.

Just heard from a trusted source that pope is out for season

Wouldn't be a suprise at all, he was down quite a while, clearly struggling after the injury and was holding his shoulder as the players left the field.

Does this mean, finances permitting, he could be de-registered?

With not having empty spaces in the squad if it is true then it would make sense to unregister him to bring someone else in

Taylor was a great start. We now need a centre-back, preferably one that doesn't look like he's running through treacle when moving. Another decent forward would also be nice but we may have to wait until the summer to fill that position.

Despite everything this season I still think we have the makings of a decent side. We just need the right man in charge and a couple of good additions, while shipping out the likes of Crooks, Whitehead, McKirdy and Robinson. Brown, Smith, Gibbons, Conlon, Oyeleke, Taylor, Worrall, Amoo and Pope, despite the latters tender age, are all good players for League Two level. Rodney and Hurst have plenty of potential.

There's plenty there for the new manager to work with.

A 20 year old who couldn't get into Schalke team who were 34 without a win is hardly going to tear up a brutal League like The Championship.
