Confidence- getting beaten in the cup by non league team, run of late late defeats, things not dropping for you - all sapping on players

The 2nd half performance was the first for 5 games where they have put a shift in, they certainly didn't against Kings Lynn or Scunthorpe or Stevenage, so why suddenly this afternoon, and even all that effort only got us a 1-1 draw, late defeats are down to being strong mentally and physically, and the more shots chances and efforts you have the more drops for you, Askey was backed in the summer, who played from the off today  Fitz ?

Even if Askey (and I doubt he will) goes then who would take over? There aren't an abundance of decent lower league managers out there. Paul Cook, Danny Cowley and Nigel Adkins are all pie in the sky as they could easily get jobs in League One. We are looking at the likes of David Flitcroft, Graham Alexander, Paul Hurst... They won't have the budgets at Vale that they had at their last clubs so I'm not sure if they'd be much better than Askey.

Askey fairly uninspiring in his interview.

Told the lads to 'keep believing' at half time.

Only positive he could offer is we have a full week off now (which every other team has had to contend with). He then admitted Joyce, Legge, and Pope have had enforced breaks anyways, so I'm not sure about that point.

He didn't sound able to diagnose the cause of our problems; just described them. 'We can't hold onto leads'. Yes John, but why?

Again, I like him, but he doesn't sound able to solve these issues.

Anyone got any sensible suggestions for next manager??

Paul Cook out of our league??

Most of the good sides in this league go up/are currently in the top 7 with rookie/young managers (Lowe, Artell, Wellens, Bonner, Taylor, Flynn, Beech, Duff).

We don't need to go for the old head.

If he's here for Bolton, we'll line up 433 again.

There'll be one up front without a #10 behind them, again.

We'll be vulnerable down the flanks, again.

Legge or Brisley will get caught out, again.

The big girls blouses will stop caring and despondently give up when Bolton score their first, again.

That Einstein quote defining insanity as doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results gets posted on here fairly often. Albert clearly had a secret time machine and had been watching this fcùking dross every week.

I think the more pertinent question is how long would any new manager last before the usual suspects start calling for his head. 5 games if he's lucky?

No, as the new manager won't have a persistent history of conceding late and woeful recruitment, with no signs of improving in either facet. He won't have assembled a side who can't keep goals out unless their keeper is performing at super-human levels.

It's weird you have a bigger issue in fans wanting to see success and not get laughed at for comical scenes every week, than you do with the manager causing said issues.

6th game in a row I've got Stoke fans ripping into us. Late goals, circus defending, Kings Lynn.

But best keep quiet, ey? We're all Vale!
