Were not those"10 regulars" the ones who got us to one place of the play-offs when the season ended 2020?

Also we were going for the 5th consecutive win, now we've been 5 consecutive losses, and the pivotal game was Kings Lynn, so could Askey have upset the team with his post match chat, and they are now repaying him...

The point is that he’s not signed them so who/what’s he scouting?

Good evening fellow Valiants,

Leaving Mr Askey in his position until January would be too late, and we would be condemned to a season of misery. A season that would be on par with a meal I once had in the Charnock Richard Service Station back in 2004.

One won't go into the full details, however, I still can't bring myself to eat a Lasagne to this day.

To sort our current issues out down in Burslem Town, Mrs Shanahan needs go down to Mr Askey's office, bang on the door and shout "Hey Jonny, YOU'RE FIRED!"

All the very best,

Jeff.

Cheers Jeff.

Completely agree Joe. Personally relieved to have this Tuesday night off. I earlier alluded to what you suggest in this post regarding a full week off. It has felt like "hammer blow after hammer blow" with poor John well and truly on the ropes, unable to get to his corner for a breather. I hope, like you that a week of training away from a competitive game will help "sort things out". I'm doing my best to stay hopeful and try to look out for posts by Werstayinup who is positivity personified. UTV

Thank you

I just dont see the point in being downbeat, there is to much going on in the world for that.... what happens happens, here you go for positivity i think we are due to wallop somebody and i can see that coming on saturday with a bit of luck

No problem ......A friend who does know, said a deal was close and the Vale were prepared to push the boat out and at the very last minute Mansfield came in with an unbelievable eye watering offer that blew us out of the water, with all sort of bonus'

And so far he's scored less league goals than Devante Rodney!!!

For me the disappointing thing is that we were in for Maynard at all. We should have been pushing the boat out and getting in a striker that is under 30 years of age, preferably under 25. This is more than likely Pope's last season and I am certainly glad that we will not be looking to replace him and Maynard in May. I don't know who thought that Rodney was worth a three year contract and would hopefully make a profit on him but whoever it was should be speaking to some rugby clubs because I think the only way he would be making a future in sport is with the oval ball where he could use his speed and power while holding the ball because I don't think he will ever be able to co-ordinate his feet and a ball successfully for the professional game.

And don't get me started on Robinson.

If John is reading this then Sting would like to let him know that the situation at the moment is being closely monitored. That is all Sting will say on this subject at the moment but Port Valers can certainly be assured that Sting is here and watching closely.

Every single day, and every word you say, every game you play, every night you stay, Sting is watching you.

Another manager afraid to make a substitution, OGS, has seen Utd’s Champions League hopes go up in smoke tonight having decided NOT to sub Fred (yes, THE worst player in the EPL Fred) who got an early yellow and had several close escapes before HT before eventually getting sent off (harshly as it turns out) early in the 2nd half arguably costing them the game vs PSG.

Couldn’t help but conjure up those nightmares of Newport where Askey did likewise. When it is so easy (particularly in Europe) to get a yellow card these days, I think managers failing to act on things like this should come in for criticism at it shows complete tactical naivety.

If memory serves me correct Adams was spot on at this and made early changes a couple of times when people were treading a fine line (Shrewsbury Away seems to stick out).

Fred has been unfairly maligned to be honest but that is a different conversation.

The point about substitutions is an important one - particularly this season, it's more important than ever. There is a weird situation where a shortened season puts more pressure on squads, and requires more rotation to maintain freshness, but at the same time you lose that coherency if you chop and change all the time. And yet during a game, you need to make more changes, which is even more counterintuitive.

Subs are game changers, they need to be impactful, to change the game to play on your terms and to make the opposition have to react. That means they need to offer something different to what you already have, not just be like for like swaps. They are also  incredibly important given their timing, as evidenced by the late goals we have given away recently. I actually think that the root cause of our issues is that Askey doesn't quite have the central forward that he wants. If you could mix all of them together, you'd have quite some player, but all of them would probably work better with someone alongside them to complement, which is not the way he likes to play.

At what point have we looked any better on the rare occasions we've played two up top because I'm struggling to remember Creativity in midfield and out wide is our problem no one is getting to the byline and putting balls in between the keeper and defender apart from Amoo who even if he's not injured only really plays well half the time theo,Cullen and pope have all consistently scored goals at this level so they have either all forgotten how to score or they aren't getting any service
