Embarrassing for complaining about losing 3 home games on the bounce. Failing to score in two of them. One against a part time side and one against second bottom. Oh. And conceding 4 in the other. Loads to be positive about!!!

Booooooooooooooo Abysmal 10 days to be a Vale supporter

Our fan base is an embarrassment at the moment. We are outside the playoffs on goal difference and you want the manager sacked. Christ.

Chopping and changing managers regularly rarely ends well. Managers need time to get it right. Slow but sure progress is all I ask for, and I do think that's what we're getting. Unless a manager has c

Askey signings

Summer 19

Maddison, Crookes, Kennedy, Brisley, Burgess, Lloyd, Evans, Hurst, Taylor, Amoo, Browne, Cullen, Bennett, Archer (only 7 still here)

Jan 20

Clark

Summer 20

Rodney, Mills, Whitehead, Robinson, Fitzpatrick, Visser, McKirdy, Clark (Only Clark started tonight)

On paper a much better squad, as most would have agreed at the start of the season.  But the fundamental problem of our lack of goals last season still remains.

Askey doesn't generally bring on subs until so late on in games because when he's making changes after 60 minutes or so, as he did tonight, it's as good as an admission that he got the starting 11 wrong. The truth is he has no idea who our best forward is. Has no idea what our best 11 is. Has no idea what our best formation is, so he just plays the same old formation every week while closing his eyes and hoping for the best, regardless of the opposition.

Askey does know his best formation its 4-3-3 although we play it more 4-5-1. The starting eleven he thinks he knows the best - its the team which lost to Kings Lynn,Tranmere. Tonight wasn't his best team as it was missing Joyce.

Sadly for us Askey is only comfortable playing 4-3-3. Even the Morecambe commentators where making fun saying Askey has 3 options 4-3-3, 4-3-3 & 4-3-3. How true...

Not liking Scunny these days. Not only did their added time equaliser last season deny us place in play-offs before curtailment but this happens. How can Vale mess up two home games against struggling teams - should have been joint top tonight. Surely this prospect could have been rammed down players throats - what more motivation do you need. Seems like hangover from Kings Lynn game still lingering.

Having a good old moan is fine. But calling for a manager to be sacked because we aren’t top. Perhaps a bit of perspective is needed.

If you pick your strongest eleven out of our squad. Play the every game !!

What would you honestly give them for a goals tally based on what you have seen and previous seasons in their career.

Will be interesting and i will bet it doesnt give us enough for promotion

Said it at the start of the season. Dire recruitment. Mostly non league players who barely played for us and subsequently got released (Lloyd, Kennedy, Evans ect) the same will happen at the end of this season. Whitehead, crookes will be released. We don’t sign first team players just these below average squad players that aren’t good enough to displace the starting players.

Don’t think anyone is complaining we’re not top. It’s more the level of performance so far this season. There must be 5/6 truly dire displays so far this season most of them at home as well. I don’t want him gone yet but another 2/3 more games like tonight and it’s difficult to back him

We play one because Askey insists on playing a defensive midfielder to protect the back four. Without this i think all the criticism would be on the back four not being good enough

Why can't you play a defensive midfielder in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2?

Absolutely hit the nail on the head. Of those signings Amoo is the only one that is probably guaranteed to start (Clarke i wouldn't count as he was signed by someone else initially and isn't out player)

What's really worrying is that some of these players have had good careers elsewhere. We have more coaches that we've ever had before and still we can't seem to get a song out of any striker that isn't a Vale fan!

Its not time to sack him. But hes got to change the approach. We need a plan b. We cant keep doing the exact same thing over and over. It isnt working and we have enough of squad, with different types of players to be able to change things and adapt. But at the moment we dont. We just keep ploughing away even when it's not working.

But an improved level of performance would have probably put us top. If we had improved in 5/6 games, we’d be top be a clear margin. It’s a long season.
I’ll add, if we had won today, we would be on a higher points per game average than when we went up with Micky Adams.

Agree entirely. Joyce is a waste of a player for us. Most teams play without this holding defensive player. They play with two, of which either can go forward. What makes it worse for me is that the other two midfield men are not creative, threatening enough. Taylor was a lucky find for us last season.

I honestly believe Conlon should be looking at playing in the Joyce role. If he could do the covering role he would no doubt be capable of playing a forward ball to help create forward play.
