Match Thread: Port Vale v Scunthorpe United

I don't think it's the environment to chop and change managers. This season may have to be written off because we don't look any better than a mediocre mid-table side. Askey did a tremendous job to steady the ship mid all the instability but longer term we might have to look at someone else who can put together a promotion side.
We are slowly regressing compared to how we left off in March. We are predictable and boring as hell to watch.
We signed too many mediocre players in the summer who are nowhere near the first team.
We have nobody who can take the game by the scruff of the neck. We don't have enough goals in the side.

This hits the nail on the head for me , completely agree with all points made Santa

Saturday, we threw the game away after Joyce stupidity.

Tonight, a few decisions go our way and we win by a landslide.

We have a solid team without many super heroes but that pays off over a full season. If you've ever been involved with football, you understand that. Don't expect to win every week. Be competitive and with a decent squad and solid manager, good things happen.

So we just need a solid manager then. Terrific.

We win by a landslide? Have you been hit by a bus on your way home from work. You need your head wobbling if you thought a couple of decisions were the difference between us losing and winning by a landslide

What game were you watching?!? Win by a land slide! We didn’t have a shot on target until the last minute! We’ve been crap more games than we’ve been good this season.

I used to get ridiculed by some numpties here when I was calling for Aspin out a few months before he was finally released from his duties. Give Askey another month, another three months, and absolutely nothing will have changed. Yeah, we'll put together a few decent results here and there, such is the way of League Two. But for me more worrying than some of the results are the performances we're now starting to put in on a much regular basis.

Some people here deserve a club that gets absolutely nowhere.

Some people are happy for another season in this <ovf censored> league and have no ambition for the club. We have the wage budget, players to more than challenge in this league and we wont under askey its sad that some people are happy to settle for mediocrity

Didn't deserve anything tonight. One dimensional. No cutting edge. Why do we continue to do the same thing over and over and over knowing that it isn't working? Everybody in this league knows how we play and it's just so easy to nullify. Get men behind the ball and we won't score. Scunthorpe obviously did their homework and had a game plan. Wasn't pretty to watch at all but it worked. I'd much rather have the 3 points than 65-70% possession and tippy tappy football around the back four. Think the players are struggling for motivation without the fans.

The fact you are sating the players are struggling for motivation i think you need to dig a bit deeper on that. It is the same for everyteam we all play with no fans it is up to the management to get the players up for the games and askey couldnt motivate me to sleep with megan fox

Missed opportunity tonight and we obviously struggle against these packed defences.

FUA, So does every football team including the Nation Team. They had the luck tonight including the two key decisions the ref made at the end which could have well gone for Vale on another day.

It's frustrating.

After we won the first 2 games of the season, we've gone some to have lost 5 out of the 12 league games we've played! We barely average over a goal a game. Just got turned over by a side that 2 hours ago had a grand total of 7 points.

Has he gone yet?!
