Askey has got to get 433 system out of his head we have 4 centre  forwards who cannot play that system 3 of them are too slow the other is learning the game. The wide players are hit and miss tonight they crossed the ball 5 times straight out of play not good enough for a pro footballer. The 2 centre halves are asked to play like Dean Glover used to knocking 40 yd balls up to front men both are incapable of doing that.We still have not got a proper left back since Tankard left the only bright spark we have is manny can play Joyces position standing on his head and Mckirdy is the player who can give us the unexpected on the pitch . But in Askeys world its a pipe dream he will not change and we will keep struggling along .Myself i would play a 352 system at home with a lot of changes in personal but i know its wishful thinking but if he carries on how he is doing i think he will have to look at different employment.

Absolutely hit the nail on the head. Of those signings Amoo is the only one that is probably guaranteed to start (Clarke i wouldn't could as he was signed by someone else initially and isn't out player)

What's really worrying is that some of these players have had good careers elsewhere. We have more coaches that we've ever had before and still we can't seem to get a song out of any striker that isn't a Vale fan!

Its not time to sack him. But hes got to change the approach. We need a plan b. We cant keep doing the exact same thing over and over. It isnt working and we have enough of squad, with different types of players to be able to change things and adapt. But at the moment we dont. We just keep ploughing away even when it's not working.

Why are we all frustrated tonight?

Because expectancy levels are high this season.

Why are they high?

Because we have a Manager that has taken us from potential oblivion to promotion candidates.

Luck and refereeing decisions do make a difference. Last two games we have lost to two wonder goals that the players concerned probably won't hit again this season

Yes we were frustrating tonight but still would have won with the correct refereeing decisions near the end.

The truth is we are a team that is in transition. We are not 'there' yet but we are heading the right way.

Clubs that are run properly gain success e.g. Accrington, clubs run badly go out of the football league.

Just a few weeks ago posters were remarking that we have reached the play offs, and beaten most of the teams above us getting there.

There is so little patience these days and it's easy to change for changes sake and all that creates is instability.

Finally, I have no doubt if we had been in the ground tonight, and on Saturday, we would have been the 12th man that motivated us to two wins.

Let off the frustration, but let's keep calm. Hey.

Pre Season I was pleased we signed Robinson from Southend where he played 28 games for Colchester on loan and scored 11 goals making him the top scorer.

I was also pleased we signed McKirdy where I'm sure he finished top scorer for Carlisle.

So thats two forwards from clubs in our division who have a track record at scoring goals.

When was the last time we did that ?

Maybe we are looking in the wrong areas maybe it's midfield that aren't up to the job, how many times did we see a midfielder getting past Cullen, how many times do the full backs get to the bye line and cut the ball back giving a forward half a chance.

Askey now has to reset and work it out on the training ground, it's up to him to get a tune from the squad we have.

Midfield have never been up to it. Been saying this for yonks. We HAVE to play three across the middle else we get over run ffs! Been obvious for 3 seasons now. They don’t protect the back 4 and don’t create chances... the big issue in close season was not shaking it up. Too much was placed on oyleke being fit. The lad just isn’t up to and we are paying for it.

Not liking Scunny these days. Not only did their added time equaliser last season deny us place in play-offs before curtailment but this happens. How can Vale mess up two home games against struggling teams - should have been joint top tonight. Surely this prospect could have been rammed down players throats - what more motivation do you need. Seems like hangover from Kings Lynn game still lingering.

He doesnt even have the backbone to do the post match interview- spineless. As he is spineless when it comes to changes it whwn its not working. Weve been playing the same tactics we have for the past year people have worked out how to stop us and we do nothing to try and change it up. we are lacking goals play two strikers up top from the start and lets try get a partnership going mckirdy looked sharp play him just behind pope. He will make the runs pope is looking for all day long. But i would put a lot of money we will be 4-3-3 yet again against newport and i think were going to be in for a trouncing at the moment. Now i know leon was not to fault for there goal and has been collosal at times for us and thats never been in doubt but why is he on the ball so much he kicks the ball out of play every time he gets it. Why is our tactic to get smith and him on the ball so much juat get the ball forward having them being our play makers is the recipe for disaster

Cullen is not a lone striker footballer. Would have liked to have seen Pope brought on to accompany him.

There are references on getting Jake Taylor back. Instead of making a derisory offer of £30k last season now is the time to splash some cash by trimming back the Synectics managerial staff and releasing Whitehead and Crookes and evaluating how many coaches are needed at the club. A firm offer of £100k would secure Taylor's services - come on Phil Sproson and act in the interests of your player.

Talking of Phil Sproson, I cringe every time he pronounces Conlon's name - it is not Conn-Lon.

Would like to see Alex Hurst included in match day squad.

Beginning to write off my pre-season bet of £50 on Vale winning League at odds of 16-1

Coaching staff have nothing to with the playing budget. It's completely separate , can't see why people have an issue with Vale hiring more coaches. This is a good thing. Most coaches won't be on much anyway as they use a lower league team like Vale to help get on the coaching career ladder while they are doing there badges. Not like we are paying Billy Painter thousands a week to coach the under 16s

Both Whitehead and Crookes are under contract which means vale would have to pay out the rest of their contracts. Which is stupid to do in a pandemic with no money coming in

Point taken. Hope Crookes and Whitehead are only on one year deals!!!! Was aware of this but during times of intense frustration and disappointment you just want to vent your anger

That’s true but not due to Askey. We were in the terrible shape because of crackpot Smurfwaite. Askey did keep us up, but he has ran out of road and the idea that we should keep the faIth makes no sense.

Askey was a cheapo, Smurfwaite era appointment. It shows.

Silly comment about Askey.

Firstly, Surfwaite provided a bigger budget so cheap wasn't necessarily everything in this appointment.
Secondly, his rescue mission was superb.
Thirdly, despite the budget, we were the in-form team as the pandemic hit, heading towards the playoffs.
Fourthly, we are competitive this year with a solid squad.

There's lots of reasons for keeping the faith.

Some on here don't understand how difficult football is. There are 20 odd other teams in this division all thinking they have a divine right to win it, too. By laws of averages, we are not supposed to succeed. I think we have a much better chance than average. We need to be together as a club and includes doing our bit, too, as fans.

Well said , ! Not shouting for a managers head after every defeat. I’m sure some enjoy the attention being so negative brings.

Up the vale and keep the faith
