Match Thread: FLT G3 Port Vale v Liverpool U21

Recommended Posts

Damn shame if Mckirdy had to come off he looked good tonight and scored a very nice goal.
The injury curse in this tournament continues
If he has done his hamstring he's probably doing more damage by playing on. Don't know if it's his choice or askeys but either way it's worrying that with a 2 goal lead and qualification all but assured we're risking a long term absence

The last of the group games with £10,000 to the winners and the chance of higher stakes in the knock-out rounds. Liverpool U21 without a point so not in the running and the Vale virtually through, but

£8,000 for winning, £4,000 for a draw after 90 mins.

Really not sure what Robinson offers. Definitely last choice of our forwards.

Entertaining game. Ifollow mainly behaved. Don't think we imposed ourselves enough and made life a bit difficult. Hope we haven't picked up injuries. Enjoyed it, which is what it is all about I guess. Bit more money in the bank for Vale too.

Another game in this tournament where the wrong player was taken off instead of someone coming back from injury who could have done with being protected a bit better. Hopefully McKirdys injury isn’t too bad.

Entertaining  game that.  You could see Liverpool players had a bit of quality, I felt they gave the ball away less than us throughout.

Cullen could’ve had 4 or 5 tonight but at least he kept getting in there, unlike Robinson who was largely uninvolved.

Hopefully McKirdy is OK, he was the stand out player for us.

Job done... Minutes for Manny, 90 mins for Monty.. only negative potential injury to McKirdy.

Fingers crossed for 4 W's in a row on Saturday.😀

Did the shower last Saturday not happen then?

Our front three, with everyone fit, for me should be Amoo, McKirdy and Cullen at home, with Pope replacing Cullen away. Worrall in midfield with Joyce or Conlon and Oyeleke. McKirdy will be a frustrating player at times but he can also unlock the door and score a goal. Worrall gives us the legs in midfield we sometimes miss as we can look a bit pedestrian there, especially when Oyeleke isn't available or he's finding match sharpness.

Worrall

McKirdy

Amoo

Cullen/Pope

Automatic promotion. Thank me later, John.

Should’ve won that one by a cricket score, Cullen will be thinking he missed his chance to get back in the team come the league games.

Did Theo have a shot at goal?

Thought Mckirdy looked very interesting tonight, very sharp and direct.

Defence took a little while to stay connected.

The number of chances we had was crazy
