Match Thread: FAC R1 Port Vale v King`s Lynn Town

Askey has said in the past, when his side is on top and creating chances he doesn’t like making changes... it’s frustrating as fans but that’s the way he plays.

Very very disappointing today, and we will see the usual meltdown on here tonight which I suspect will be more over the top than usual.

Cup upsets happen... Grimsby, Rochdale and us today, and they are very upsetting, but if we continue as we have been in the league (fingers crossed) it will soon be forgotten.

Absolutely disgusting. I'm livid at this.

The players and and management should hang their heads in shame.

Can someone please tell Askey he can make a sub earlier then the 70th minute. Why on earth would he bring on Mckirdy on and not Cullen for Pope instead. Anyone could see he was knackered.

I was hoping mckirdy would bring something to this team but he was like bambi on ice today.

Far to many players not putting a shift in today Legge,Joyce and Worrall looked absolutely shattered and we haven't even had a midweek game this week which is a worry.

Can we please **** off the hoof ball already. It never has and never will work.

Hoof ball never been good for us but if you are going to do it at least have two up top with some pace.   Absolutely pointless doing this with Pope as he just doesn’t play that way.    A sign of poor coaching? or are players not doing as instructed?

I just can't understand why he would bring Mckirdy on for Conlon and even more surprised he left Pope on 90 minutes.

To be fair McKirdy gave us some energy and looked lively - we where just crap in midfield and didn't get the ball out to him enough. Colon was awful today and deserved to come off. I was surprised about Pope too. He looked like he was running on fumes at 70 minutes.

Agree. Cullen has a decent home record and scored a good amount last season. I do find it strange who he seemed to start as number 1. Then Rodney. Then Robinson. Now pope. I don’t think askey knows who he wants to play up top. One thing is for sure if your not starting you won’t be getting subbed on

I believe Askey, probably rightly, plays the striker who is on form at any given time.

Robinson got 2 in a game early on then kept his place, Pope got 2 last week so he starts.

Cullen has been out injured for about 5/6 weeks.

Carol must be livid. That was money the club desperately needed.

Of course we shouldn’t have taken a victory for granted, but with a squad of our depth we should really be in the next round.

I’m puzzled why we keep employing all these ‘nice to have’ coaches, probably at a considerable cost for a club like PV, yet the first-team still seems to be lacking quality in many areas.

I bet JA is relieved that horror show was played behind closed doors, without the boos and anger to deal with.

Congratulations KL.

Agreed.

The game highlighted problems we have had all season. Not enough goalscorers in the team. A lack of midfield creativity/magic. Struggling to break down deep lying defences. Too much long ball. Very poor and late use of subs. Some home games have been awful.

Good luck to them in the next round but it's a golden opportunity to make some money and maintain our recent good run gone down the drain in embarrassing fashion.

A bitterly disappointing day.

Having seen the games where we've played poorly this season, and the games where we've played ok but created too little (eg Cambridge), today felt like it was going the same way from very early on in the game. Again people will be questioning Askey's in-game management and his use of subs.

It was all very bobbly and scrappy without anywhere near enough quality, zip or decent movement off the ball. Once again we've been too predictable and crab-like and we've struggled to get opposition players dragged out of their shape into positions they don't want to be.

Dumped out the youth cup by non league in the week, out the cup today by non league. As Askey been letting frank Sinclair a bit too close to the training sessions?

I was never overly confident today for some reason. I knew it would be a <ovf censored> performance and we wouldn’t get up for it nor would the manager get them up for it. Very disappointing and I’m sure Carol won’t be happy with the loss of prize money after she was in the paper saying every penny helps......

it’s a good job we beat Southend and Oldham or mr Askey wouldn’t be in good books.

At home unless the opposition come to play then we haven't a clue how to break teams down.

Contrary to opinion on here Harrogate are bang average and we couldn't break down their blockade.

Cheltenham and Salford came to play and we created better chances albeit Salford was scrappy.

No creativity whatsoever against stubborn teams

I'm loath to be critical compared to how things were a couple of years ago but I do sometimes wonder if there are too many chiefs and not enough indians at the club now.
