If they overlap full backs against our pace and ability on the break Devante will murder them you’d hope with his pace. May make it open as our full backs are being targeted but if they push to far up Rodders should be enjoying the freedom of the flank to get at them.

I reckon this will be the key battle. Fallowfield the right back is excellent going forward but I'd like to see him go one on one against Dave.

Watched most of the first half of this, which showed that Harrogate are a crisp-passing side who press the opposition very hard when they are not in possession. County failed to match their work rate and paid the price as they were constantly playing catch up. It will need another hard-working performance from the Vale to match this.

Harrogate though are a bit two-dimensional as most of their attacks came down their right flank between Thomson and the overlapping right back Fallowfield (I think). Thomson is also their set-piece specialist and the goal came from one of his free kicks taken from almost on the half-way line. The key to Saturday's game will be to nullify this partnership and put pressure on the right back who is much better going forward than defending. He will certainly find Devante a handful, particularly if he gets too adventurous.

Looks like being a cracking game.

Interesting read on the vale play

That would be a totally different analysis of our fullbacks if Gibbo and Monty were starting.

Given that we have a practice game in the week for Amoo and Gibbo I can’t see them being involved in today’s game.

Interesting read on the vale play

Having given this a careful read, I think we can expect to see Harrogate play around Joyce in front of our back four. As they play two up front, leaving Leggey and Smudge with their hands full, our full backs might be tempted to move in-field in support, which would leave our flanks exposed, where Harrogate launch most of their attacks.

The downside for them though is that if their midfield plays too much up front and their full backs attack they are going to leave themselves exposed to counterattack - one of our strengths. A lot is going to depend therefore on our front three, particularly Wozza and Rodney.

Prepare for a cracker.

Quite surprised at the caution, negative vibes.

Just for a reality check we are at home to Harrogate Town.

We have every right to expect to win this game.

Southend are a car crash but still have to be beaten, decent point against Walsall.

However let's let them think about us . Why are we so nervous and anxious.

Come on Vale smash them

No team has the right to win a game. I think we have the players to win it but we will have to be on top of our game. Promoted clubs rarely struggle in this league and quite a view go straight through to league 1. I don't think there will be many easy games this season. Outside Southend and Morecombe most sides have a decent first 11.

I didn't say we had a right to win it.

You have to earn the right.

So you are saying Stevenage and Barrow have good starting X1 then too ?

3-0 Vale
